Ok so my DD is 10 months old and bored with her basket of little toys. Last night I bought her a 2-1 activity table that she loves. (on clearance from 25.99 to 12.88 at target!) What other toys are good at this age? She does not walk yet but pulls herself up on things. I only have a Target, Walmart and Shopko in my area!! Any ideas? What were you kids into at this age?

My son is 2 and how quickly you forget what they were into at what age! I always try to get stuff he can grow with. I would suggest the Little People bus - he got that for x-mas when he was about 7 months and still plays with it. Anything that lights up and makes noise toy phones little music makers. He loved his activity table the most though, we just got rid of recently because he was using it as a stool to climb on to stuff. |

yes, the little people bus is a great idea. my DD loves that thing. my DD is 18 months now...I'm trying to remember what toys were her faves at that age. xylophone (Target has a cute fisher price one I think) baby grand piano (still loves this) lego duplos (loves more every day) the musical table (fisher price has one, leap frog has one) fisher price "sit down for storytime" chair she has always loved that fisher price toy with the colored rings that they stack blocks a ball (we'd roll it to her, she'd roll it back and she thought it was SO funny) keys (I got some playskool keys at big lots that look like "real keys" - she really liked these) books! |

Wow, it must be an age thing. I have found that my 10 month old is getting "bored" with her toys too. I have a ton of toys that my cousin passed down to me when she realized her one DD is more than enough and she won't be having more kids, but those seems to "old" for Ava. I guess I may have to bite the bullet and buy some stuff.

Liza loved her exerscaucer, it had interchangeable toys and then converted to a standing activity center. We also loved the play n learn puppy from FP and the fridge DJ from leap frog. Oh and she had a set of nesting bowls that I picked up from the dollar store that she loved ( and still loves) I also made home made toys ( she still plays with these) I took baby food jars, peeled the labels off, and put little beads and like 2 tbs of glitter in the jars, I then filled them up with water and glued the top back on. I left the water out of some and would but little bells in them or other "stuff". She loved them! and best of all they were amost free! |

OK - my son is now 13 months and he STILL plays with his laugh and learn house!!!! I would say out of almost all the "toys" purchased that this was my best buy and I recommend it to everyone!!!! I was nervous at first after some people recommended it to me and I went and got it and he didn't seem all that interested at first. Then that was it, he LOVED it after a couple of days playing with me and DH with it. They can pull themselves up on it and there are buttons and switches to push and turn on and off. There is a door to open and shapes and balls and a lot of stuff to play with. What they can't do at 10 months, they will learn to do at 12-13 months so it can last a while unlike most other things. The only other toy that he LOVED and has now grown out of is the table - but that was AWESOME for a few months when he was first pulling himself up!!! Besides that, honestly he's liking those really big balls they sell at TRU or Walmart or anywhere really!! I'd love to knwo of any toys to get him now that might be really good for his age as I feel like he's in between stages (too young to understand how to do something on one toy, but too advance for others and doesn't want to play with them). HTH - the house is a little pricey, so I'd look on Craigslist or something - just make sure it still comes with the mail, balls and shapes which are all not attached and easy to lose!! My father also bought my son keys and he LOVES them. Some people may not like this because it's kind of dangerous, but obvious common sense to not leave your child alone while playing with certain things - anyway - my dad went to home depot and actually bought uncut real keys for him on a keyring. The fake ones just don't jingle the same and he knows they aren't real. My son isn't really into them no matter how real they look but he LOVES his real keys!!

Any musical instruments are great. they can grow and grow and grow with them. My sis gave my baby the little tykes xylophone at 12 mo (for hid b-day) and it is awesome. We all love it, even the 9yo cousin that I taught to play mary had a little lamb on it.

I see everyone's children like the Busy Ball Popper??? I think it's made by Playskool. It's a toy for Grandparents and church for my son. The balls go EVERYWHERE! I switch out my sons toys every two to three weeks in hopes that he won't get too bored of them. He loves his musical table and the Amazing Animal toys by Fisher Price. He also likes his TONKA ride on and Leap Frog musical walker toy. LeapFrog® Learn & Groove® Animal Sounds Guitar was also a big hit for my son! My son doesn't stay in an exersaucer and figured out how to lean forward and get his feet so he could slide right out...

Lanah loved her Peek-a-Blocks and Roundabouts...The dinosaur was a favorite and the gumball machine, but she loved all of them (and I think we owned all of them). She still loves her little people and has had them since forever so they really are a good investment. Weebles were a big hit too and anything that was cause and effect.
