I did babysit in HS for a lady whose baby had colic and would only be calmed by being held. The poor lady couldn't get anything done. I would come home from school, go to her house, sit in the lazy boy, hold the baby and watch General Hospital for an hour while she would take a shower, clean, etc. She paid me $9/week to sit and watch TV. I alway thought that was crazy until I took my nephew who had colic for a few hours. I think I would have paid $9/hour to get a break!
lemme tell ya...if I had ever found someone when ds was small I would have paid that person a plenty to babysit!!!!!! he also had colic and reflux...

I'd offer her $6/hr. Maybe $7/hr.

Our babysitter is a college student. I pay her $9/hr; DH pays her $10/hr - b/c the math is easier to do.

OK, your DH and MY DH went to the same math class! xxoxo

Oh, and when I have sitters, college age here, I pay $7 an hour for one child....when I had younger sitters I pay between $5-6 an hour.

I do have one sitter like the above, cpr, nanny experience that I pay between $10-15 according to if DD stays at our house or hers, if she drives (lives 45 min away), etc.

I pay my sister (12yrs old) $10. I used to pay her $1 for every diaper change (to some it's a lot. The way I see it, you get what you pay for, daughter never had diaper rash . ) There are times I give her $5 extra only because I know my daughter can be a handfull at times. I always had/have a willing babysitter.

She can't wait for my lil boy to be born! All she sees is $$$$ .
