ok so this might seem like a very strange post, but i am a first time crazy mom so please help!! my 8 month old daughter just started finger feeding herself a month ago and she was eating cherios like it was nobody's business, so i decided to give her some veggies that she like mashed, but whole. so i gave her carrots, (boiled till they are super soft) and she eats them very well, but when she poops, they come out looking the same as they did going in! like they are still in the tiny bites that she ate them in! then i gave her peas wondering if it was just carrots, and they did the same thing!! does that mean that she is not getting the nutrients from them or is it ok? i am so confused and worried that she is not getting anything from them! she is still breastfed, so i know that she is getting the goodies that i can give her, AM I BEING CRAZY?!?! ![]() |

All my kids did that and sometimes still do. I guess I thought that they just didn't chew it up properly. Not sure. But I am sure that the body still get the nutrients from it.

Yep, perfectly normal! Corn is a real fun one! She still gets what she needs, all mine did this and I used to be a nanny as well. Don't worry!

Corn, peas, beans and carrots all come out looking like they went in. Until the child has some molars, these foods don't get chewed up very well.

I was so worried about my baby when he was just starting to eat because he has and umbelical hernia so i made an appointment with his ped and they told me that this was totally normal its just that the baby only has a few teeth and not chewing it up all the way he is still getting the nutrients its just not all mashed because we use our teeth to mash so Yes it is normal

ok, corn and peas and that are bad, but just wait until you get a diaper full of mandrin oranges....those are by far the worst!! you just can not get all the tiny piece of pulp off their bottoms. i can't eat oranges after changing those kinds of diapers.

I'm with you on the mandarin oranges. I was so confused the first time! Those and raisins. I thought "did he not chew them at all???"

ROTFL! Ahh, the joys of motherhood! When I was a teenager, my friend's mom had a little girl and I remember hearing her shrieking from the other side of the house. We went running, of course, and she was almost in tears laughing because she had figured it out: the cherries that went in came out looking like well, like afterbirth! I have been too big of a chicken to let ds even TRY whole cherries! LOL! |

Wait until they're to the age where they can eat spaghetti. Looks like worms - I gagged every time that came out in little pieces mixed in with the rest of the ick!

only moms can have a poop talk over dinner and not think a thing about it.

Plant material is difficult to digest. It's normal to see it come out looking almost the same as when it went in.
