My daughters will be one and three at the end of September and lately I have been having a problem getting them to bed. My one year old started staying up late (probably till 2 or 3 in the morning) about 3 weeks ago and then about 2 weeks it was like my three old started following what the other one was doing.... three weeks later and they are still staying up super late now they wont go to bed till 4,5 and sometimes 8 in the morning! I know it's horrible but I've tried possibly everything I can think of. I would just really love to be able for us to get up at 8 am instead 2 or 3 pm. Any help or advice would be amazing!! ![]() |

I would think you're going to have to suck it up and get everyone up at 8am one day....no napping allowed, so that everyone will crash and burn by 8pm. And then keep doing it every day until it becomes normal. Also, the bedtime routine is really important! No T.V., brush teeth, quiet reading time, etc....at least 1 hour before sleep time. HTH! and Good Luck! |

What are they waking you up for? You cant possibly be stayin gup like that every day and night. My son did this. He would wake me up for something to drink every 5 minutes. Put a cup not a sippy cup on the table and they will get up to get it and go back to sleep. That way they dont wet the bed from drinking too much. Sippy cup they will drink and drink and drink. Let them run around the yard before dark. Every night. My son I finally just started going to bed. Turned out all the lights. And put a tv in his room. One that hangs on the wall. And put a rack up so he couldnt get to it. And he watched tv to go to sleep most of the time going to bed at 2 but finally got used to 12 then 8. Now he sleeps around 8 to 10 at night until 6 or 8 am. He also does not take any naps. And you dont get relief during the day without naps. But you get relief at night. Now when he is tired he goes to his room and turns the tv on. I taught him how to use the remote. And I keep a dvd in or satellite on cartoons. And just change out dvds every day.

No disrespect, but how is a one-year-old supposed to "run around the yard?" Additionally, I can't think of any situation where putting a t.v. in a young child's room is acceptable. I would suggest a bedtime routine; children need routines so that they know what to expect.
