I think teachers come up with the neatest ideas for things the kids can make for their families for the holidays! What did your kids bring home this year? We got the most adorable ornaments for our tree! They are red glass balls - the kids painted their whole hand white and "held" the ball with the bottom of the ball in their palms. Their fingers are sticking up on the sides of the ball. The teachers then painted each finger like a snowman - it looks like a little snowman family. So cute! I'll have to take a picture and share! eta: ![]() What did you get? Care to share a picture? ![]() Last edited by monica; 12-22-2007 at 08:55 AM.

This is REALLY ADORABLE and a TREASURE for YEARS to come...each time you put that on the tree you will think of the age they brought it home and all those nice memories come rushing back! Thanks for sharing....i do not have little children anymore as they are all grown..but i still put up the ornaments they brought home!! They are sooooo cute and the tree would not be the same without them ![]()

Too cute Monica, and a great idea. Sara Hailey's school lets the children paint Christmas balls and they have them fired at a pottery store. I will see if I can get a picture of it today.

My son for the past 4 years has been bringing home ornaments and well this year he didn't bring one home I don't know why they didn't do anything. I will have to go get some materials and have him make one! I usually get a personalized ornament and a family ornament every year. In a couple years I will not have any room for any other ornaments. Time for a bigger tree! ![]()

my 5th grader brought home a bead wreath ornament. Not sure what the name of the bead type is, but looking at it from the top down it looks like a star and is very 3D looking. They strung those through red pipe cleaners and twisted the ends together and made the bow at the top. There is a circle under/behind and it is gold and has my daughters school picture. One year we got a wall hanging where the feet prints were brown and the head of the reindeer and the hand prints were the antlers.

My son brought home pretzels that they dipped in chocolate. They were in a white lunch sack. Two holes punched at top to thread a ribbon thru and tied with a bow.

I love that snowman ornament in the OP! One cute thing DS brought home for another holiday was a coaster made out of tumbled tile with his picture in b&w decopaged (sp?) on it.

DS#1 brought home a gift this year that I just loved. His teacher took a clear cellophane bag and added : 1 orange 1 lemon 1 cinnamon stick 1 bay leaf and a tablespoon of whole cloves. Tied it up with a beautiful wide ribbon bow and a little instruction card. It was a Christmas simmer for the stovetop and it scented the whole house wonderfully. All we had to do was open the package -- quarter the fruit and cover with water in a pot-- simmer on very low all day. Just add water as the level goes down. You can do this for a couple of days.

My trio brought home cinnamon ornaments, they smell REALLY GOOD but alas, all but one has broken. My kindergartner brought home the exact same thing as well. The triplets also brought home canning lids with their photos and decorations around the rim.
