| Where to get LR's pictures taken????
We always had LR's pictures taken by a private photographer. (Friend of the family) Yes it was expensive but he did a great job and it was actually fin to go! Well last year he passed away so we ended up not getting LR's pictures done. The girl would shoot about 24 pictures. The very first year we attmpted to go to Sears and it was a complete nightmare. The girl didn't try to make him smile, we hade to decide on the spot if we liked the photo so she could keep or delete it before she moved on... We ended up walking out. Does anyone have a suggestion on where to go? I know Walmart (URGH!) and JcPenney?? Does anyone have any experiences with either? I need 2 10x13's in my package which I am sure is rare but I need some help! I just want a place that will shoot a bunch of pictures and then we can go later and go okay this this and this.. Thanks! |

We went to Penneys a couple of weeks ago and got the kids pictures taken. She did some of them all together...........offered to do the two older ones, each separately, (which we didn't want, as they just had school pics taken). But we did want our soon-to-be 3 yr. old to have his taken alone. And I brought along a change of clothes for him, so he wouldn't be wearing the same thing as in the "group" picture. Then they bring you out to the computers, where you can pull up each picture and look at them for a while,........then they'll come over and see what you want to buy. We had a good experience! I've gone there in the past too with good luck. Didn't have a good experience with Sears a couple of years ago. Haven't gone back there. Penneys seems to have good deals a lot. You can go on their website and get ideas for what you want them to do too! |

We're actually going to JCP to get a family picture this year (free with purchase of DD's school pictures) for the first time ever. You could always take him to Glamour Shots for Kids - they do a great job and do boys too!

I take the kids to Picture People pretty regularly because of the freebies they put out (including 10x13s). They don't take as many pictures, and I had to search to figure out which one had all the good photographers (not the one closest to me - they act as if they've never seen a kid). Free sittings, lots of free coupons. They've gotten a couple really, really good pics and a few ok ones. Usually I get the kids one of the "prop" pictures with the coupons because I'm not thrilled with them, but it keeps me going in every few months & sometimes they get a really great picture. Not sure how much that helps you...but that's what I've been doing.

I think it depends on the person you have taking the pictures... we went to PP twice... the first time the girl was awesome... the second time the pictures were blurry and they were telling me that they were perfectly fine. I finally said, "look at her eyes- you can't see them clearly thus they are blurry!" I almost got nastier but they let me retake the one picture that I wanted. That was when dd was 1- she's now 5. We haven't been back since. For b'days we go to Target now- the girl that took dd's pics was great. I take their Christmas pictures. I don't think I helped you at all! LOL |

I hate, hate , HATE WM ~ but have always had good luck w/ their pics and prices. Pennys ~ used to be my fav until we moved and this Pennys doesn't do pics Olan Mills is in K-mart now aren't they? They used to be awesome, but... I haven't taken the kids anywhere in a few years ~ they are all in school & sports and pics are constant! The last 2 years we have gone on family cruises and have had family shots on ship and it is $20 if you want the pic ~ but you can buy just one awesome shot and it isn't on copyright paper so... |

I am of no help. My friend started her own photo business -- we now only go to her. I trade bags of groceries for her time. That, or she uses my son as a guinea pig to test new lights/backdrops/props. Sorry. |

wherever you go, I would definitely not leave it up to the "photographer" to get your child to smile. Take favorite toys, bubbles, noise makers, bribes - anything that you think will work for your child. Don't be afraid to hoot and holler behind the camera. I make a complete fool out of myself getting my clients to smile. But it works - usually. |
