Homeschool anyone?

Is there a homeschooling thread or group on here? I've been looking but haven't found one. Just wondering as we are new to homeschooling and looking for some friends.

I do not know the answer to your questions, but I know many areas have local groups for homeschoolers. A quick internet search might help you find some local mommas. My neighbor homeschools and found a local momma support group, a group for her family, and a religious group that fits her beliefs.

Thanks, I do have a local homeschool group that meets once a week but we live in the country and sometimes i think it might be easier to have some friends on AFC. I'm on here a lot anyways looking at coupons and deals and all so thought I would check.

I'm a homeschooling mom right now. Actually I'm a multitasking mom.

My oldest is 7 and he does 2nd grade at home. I've homeschooled him since kindergarten. I'm almost positive that we'll send him to school starting next year, though. My middle son is 4 and is autistic. We send him to the special preschool 4 days/wk at our local elementary school where he's in a very structured environment and also gets speech therapy there. My youngest is 1 and is in the school of momma!

I homeschooled my kids for 2 years and just couldn't do it anymore. They are enjoying school much more now!

Oh, and I say this because I had no support whatsoever, including from DH, my parents, friends, etc. It is such a hard thing to do when everyone else thinks you are nuts!

We are seriously looking into home schooling our 8yr old starting next year. My son has done public school k-2nd and will be a third grader next yr. My husband works from home and I am a sahm. We also live in the country about 20 min away from anything (gas station).

I would love to hear pros and cons from you all or any reasons why you are homeschooling or quit. TIA

I have homeschooled my 4 kids for 2 years now. The younger ones are easier...the only trouble I have is with my oldest. He is ADHD and hard to get to focus and sit still. LOL
My kids are a little odd...meaning they are not into sports, going places, social activities etc and are each others best friends. It has always been this way even when they were in school. They draw, paint and craft and just are full of imagination and sadly that isn't how most kids are. So they are doing well at home. I tell parents that I talk to about home schooling that it is not for everyone and should be based on the needs of the child.
I do want to say that my kids are involved in social activities and do have friends that they have kept in contact with from school. I didn't want it to seem like they are anti-social! They love being with other kids and going places
They just don't need it all the time!
Anyway, it has worked out well for us so far but has been hard with my obligations to my parents and brother (all are disabled or ill and do not drive)
It has kept me busy!

We should start a thread on here for home schooling parents. I am not on any boards myself and would like to share and talk about issues etc

I started homeschooling my 11yr old in January. Luckily my BFF homeschools her children, but I would love to have a separate area to post questions and such. Usually I post in the teach cheap forum. I wonder who we need to pester into getting a separate forum? It is definately a great idea.

The section we had was merged here with the parenting section. However, we do have a social group for homeschoolers on the board. (pm me if interested in joining)

I homeschool my kids~ have for 4 years now. It would be great to have some new faces in the homeschool group here.
