| Help Planning a Willy Wonka b-day party for DD!!!
My DD LOVES Willy Wonka (the classic version) and we're having her birthday part on the 21st in that theme. I'm SUPER excited, but I need a little help with some activities, decorations, and the cake!!! Here's what I've got so far: *Clearanced out christmas lights and garland (that don't look at all Christmas-ish) *I'm setting up a "candy bar" like the candy shop in the movie so kids can stuff their own goody bags. *The invitations are "golden tickets" that I'm wrapping around a Hershey bar and putting a label that says "Dixie's Wonka Bar" *I have giant candy canes to line the walk way *We're doing the "lickable walpaper" with butcher paper on the walls of my entry way covered in the fruit roll up "stickers" so the kids can peel it off ![]() I was thinking of doing a "golden egg" race or something like that. I'm drawing a blank with the cake, though. Any help is GREATLY appreciated!!

OMG! My birthday is on the 25th, can you throw me a Wonka Party too? I'm not really coming up with anything to help you now, but perhaps you could incorporate nerds into the cake somehow, or make cupcakes that look like some of the yummy edible things in that one cool scene where they start eating everything (grass, mushrooms and such). I'll come back if anything else comes to mind! Oh, and you could have a fun little game with everlasting gobstoppers! Give them each one and see who's lasts the longest! I'm going to start working on getting my 6 yo to go for this idea for her next b-day! |

I love that movie! You have some great ideas. Isn't there a soundtrack that you could play the music in the background while the kids are eating. I would make a cake like the Candy-land when Wonka opens the door to his factory. Right now that have the Malted Robins Eggs for Easter. Gum drops, jelly beans, Gummie Bears etc. You could place the items on sugared sticks all ready to eat. It may look like a Candy land Forest. The base could be shaped like a factory. I think that Wilton has a cake tin. Or even use a house shaped tin. Or have them make their own (Wille Wonka)...Dixie Wonka Cupcakes. Make a candy assortment bar so that the children will be able to build their own cupcakes. You already have the bar for the goody bags. (another great idea of yours) Oompa Loompa Musical Chairs. (Once again use the theme music) Pin the stickers on Mike TV. Golden Egg hunt. (Use the golden easter eggs in foil. attach a number on the eggs for individual prizes for each child) (And) they have all of the Willie Wonka candy, that you could change the name of the boxes to read Dixie Wonka chocolates. HTH... |

I was thinking of the cup cakes also and have little candy bowls where the kids could decorate there cup cakes them self. Have a Xlarge one made for your daughter to blow out her candle. Here is a few cake picture I also found. You can by the color fondant at Michael's and cut it your self. ![]() I thought this was so cute and she could really help you with this. The choch river is just the melting choch and you pour it down the cake when its almost cooled. If you have a ceiling fan get large star-foam balls and paint them wild colors and stick them in the ends of each blade. They look like flying gum balls. If you could find Green wigs for the kids to play with. I say it would be hard to find right now. Brown hat would be cute also. Do you have a chocolate fountain? For a game instead of musical chairs you could do pass Willie wonka's cane. A big ball that is a pinata and then you could use the cane also to hit the pinata. Oh how I would love to be the one doing this party. I do lots of weddings but never had the chance to through a kids b-day party.

Have a chocolate fountain ! Buy thoise "button" candies, ahng them on your walls too. Kids can peel the buttons off & eat them. Have a Bubble Gum Blowing Contest. I found this idea on a site; Willy Wonka Birthday Party Cake: *Chocolate River Cake: Bake a rectangular cake. Carve out a "river" with a knife in the center through the length of the cake. Decorate the cake with colorful icing, and place as many candies as you can get on it. Insert lipop sticks inside the cake to line river edges. Fill the "river" with chocolate pudding. Design "Happy Birthday" message floating in the "river" out of candy letters. What about this cake ; Wonderland Cake Recipe - and More Great Family Fun Recipe Ideas decorate it with gumdrops and lipops.

My sister had a candy graduation party. They filled canisters with loose candy. Use all diff colors and it looks so pretty. My mom also made candy bar wrappers. It's pretty easy, you take large labels and print a message " Suzie thanks you for coming to her party!" slap the stickers on fun size candy bars and your good to go. She made ones with a picture on them, it was so cool! I think there are websites that do that too...

I love the old movie too. It was the first chapter book we read with our daughter when she was 3. My idea is to put a name on each child's back (on a sticker or piece of tape) of one of the kids in the movie. They have to go around and ask people questions about their person and try to figure out who they are. Then have them do an impersonation of that person. Make sure everyone coming watches the movie before they come, it will be more fun that way. Sounds like a great party. Let us know how it goes.
