| Leapster for DS3.5??
Age range says 4-10.....wondering what you all think, though? DS turned 3 in July. He's pretty advanced for his age (not just proud mama saying so ) Knows ALL of his letters & their sounds, can spell/recognize a few basic words, can count (really count....not just rote memory). He's much more advanced than DD was at his age. I think he could probably handle some of the games....not sure about the mechanics of actually playing it, though. He has a little alphabet laptop thing that he LOVES..can push the buttons just fine, but has trouble with the 'mouse' function. What are your opinions? Should we wait another year or so? DS wants to get him the Fisher Price computer thing Fisher-Price Computer Cool School™ - Fisher-Price - Toys "R" Us but I wonder if that's the best option...... TIA!!

Go for it! My DD(3 this past March) just got a Leapster. It was supposed to be for Christmas, but she was sick and I needed a diversion for her, so it came out of the closet. She loves it! She works very well with it. I was concerned about the 4-10 age range, but she is aslo pretty advanced for her age.I noticed the cartridges have different age ranges - some are 3-5, some 4-6, and some are higher. It has buttons and a touch screen/pen, which DD loves! ![]() Okay, kids are invading now...

I say go for it on the Leapster. There are games for a lot of different ages (grows w/them). He will quickly pick up on the mechanics...JMO. My DS (just turned 6) has one & he still likes it (more advanced games). I think he's picked up a lot off of it too. The neighborhood kids come in & play it too (even 7 yr olds).

I say go for it too. I bought one for my son when he was 3 and he didn't get the full use out of it but he still enjoyed it and got a lot out of it. He still loves it at 4.5 and plays with it a lot and gets a lot more out of it but I'd buy it for a 3 year old.

I vote for the Leapster too! Aidan got one for his 3rd birthday (he will be 5 in February). He did not play it a lot at first, but over the last year, he has really enjoyed it. We have a lot of the preschool level games- Cars, Nemo, Ratatouille, etc. My only suggestion is consider getting the charger for it. It eats batteries like you would not believe!! I finally found the charger during the big toy markdown at Target this summer, and it has really come in handy!

go for it Girl!!! My DS loves his leapster!! We will get him Spongebob and Scooby doo games for christmas this year. We have most of the games but it depends what your son likes: Thomas is good for start (its easy and my DS is pretty much done with it by now), Dora and Diego are very nice as well. My son loves Backyardigans, Letter Factory and Kindergarden games. He got the Spiderman for his 4th bday in August, its for older kids but he has it figured out already and plays with it a lot. I do not feel guilty that my son plays a lot with it he learns A LOT. Thanx to leap pad and leapster he is reading and writing at the age of 4!! have fun!!

The only game I have so far is Cars(bought used off of a fellow AFCer ) and Annabelle really likes it so far. I would love to get Pet Pals, Creature Create and SpongeBob. And the carry case!

I am not sure of the difference between the original Leapster and Leapster II. We have the Leapster L-Max and the charger I purchased at Target over the summer works with it.

I really wanted Spongebob and Scooby doo game for my son for x-mas. Was going to hunt for it on Friday @ Target. Today went to GoodWill (I am a thrift store junkie) and I see a leapster case!! One lady was looking at it and complaining that there was no system, just games!!! I asked for it immediately after she was done. Guess what was inside??????? 11 leapster games!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ! Included: so wanted spongebob and scooby!!! I payed ...... $25.00 for it all!! I am beside myself. Only one game doubled with what we already have and one (Princess) game will be a gift for our little friend!! SCORE!!!!! I do not have to fight people on Fr AM in Target, woooo hooooooo! (you can't tell I am excited, huh?)
