The babe is 8 months old. Her first tooth just broke through a few days ago. She has now made a sore or tiny blister on my nipple with her new tooth. This is our 3rd babe so I'm sure something like this happened before, I don't remember that far back though! I've been starting her on the opposite side first so she isn't starving and so rough with the sore side. I'm afraid of messing up my milk supply though. I cringe in pain whenever she latches on, this just started yesterday. Compared to yesterday, I'm a lot sorer today, even when she's not nursing. Does anyone have any advice? Thank you all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll have to get some Lanolin, thought of putting antibiotic ointment on it in between feedings but wasn't sure if that was safe for her. I'd clean it off of course before feeding her. No breastpump here, my babes laugh at bottles! Well I guess it's not laughing as much as screaming! ![]() Thank you!

lanolin is safe for baby to ingest...put baby in a different position for nursing (side lying or football, awkward maybe for a bigger baby, but it moves the placement of the mouth on the nipple and breast)...if no improvement u can buy a nipple shield (they sell them at target i saw now)...gl to u..those teeth r rough at first ![]()

Yes, they do bite, don't they? Ouch! If you haven't already, try this position: instead of cradling baby's head in the crook of your elbow and having baby reclining across your lap, sit her on your lap facing you with legs spread. She may have to bend forward a bit, depending on her height and yours, but it will move the position of her teeth. We liked this best as mine got older - they can swith back and forth, lift your shirt, everything by themselves...very fun.

The sooner that you fix it, the better of course. I had the same problem, but since it was so painful, I would feed more on the other side and guess what. I have very unbalanced boobs. Not that it's that noticable cuz there small, but when I stopped breast feeding, one boob swelled up to the size of a melon and the other stayed almost the same. Very embarassing. But I did end up having to pop the blister with a needle because I got to the point of desperation. I was told I had to put warm rags on it to help clear up the pores, but popping it was a great relief. Gross but one of the truths to nursing.
