Wasn't sure which forum to put this in.... DD19 has been selling Tom's shoes since her 16th birthday 3 1/2 years ago. She loves them and promise behind the brand: for every pair purchased a child in a third world country gets a pair. She has signed up to do a "shoe drop" where people experienced in sizing peoples feet, etc., go into these areas with a huge shipment of Tom's and fit the kids for the right size and help them get the color of their choice, etc. Anyway, Tom's has a Style Your Sole thing where you get a bunch of people together, preorder everyone's correct size and (they pay in advance) and Tom's ships you all the shoes in solid white canvas. You then provide all the paints, sequins, decorations or whatever and everyone gets together to decorate and design their own pair. DD has decided she wants to do this, has picked out a tentative date and created an invite list (64 people ). Has anyone ever done this before? If so, or even if you haven't do you have any ideas? Helpful hints? I told her she needs to call all the local parks NOW to see if anyone has a pavillion that she can reserve for that day, thinking all those picnic tables already set up would be awesome. Tom's suggests acryllic paints, buttons, paintbrushes, glitter, spray paint.....anything you can suggest for me to add to the list of supplies we'll need to get? I was thinking I would do a couple coolers full of soda and water and maybe a few big sandwiches for people to eat, but the main idea is to decorate your shoes, not just eat and drink.Any help or suggestions you can give would be awesome! THANKS! |

I've painted shoes before (not toms) and they make paint pens which are really awesome! Maybe get stencils for those not so artistic. Jars with water fir rinsing and paper plates to mix colors together. There is also a spray finish you can buy to help keep the paint on longer. It's not necessary but it does help. Maybe but rhinestones and glue? Kids love that stuff. Lol

! She will do most of the stuff herself, but I know she'll rely on me to make sure she has everything, etc. I think I'm going to go ahead and start now with those weekly Michaels and Hobby Lobby coupons so I can get the stuff as inexpensively as possible. I'll just save up all the receipts so that my out of pocket amount gets reimbursed when she collects the money. Much easier than trying to get everything at the last minute!
