This is a great idea. My sister and I put together care kits for the homeless in our area, but as I get better at couponing I would love to be able to help out more than one cause!

I have just recently started stockpiling and have begun to wonder what to do with excess beyond gifting family and friends. It occurred to me last night that many of the HBA things I have will be perfect for shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child,it's a project run by Samaritan's Purse, they collect and distribute shoeboxes of small toys, school supplies, hard candy/gum,and hygiene items to needy children around the world at Christmas time. My family has done a few boxes for several years but now with my free/cheap stockpile I can pack more boxes! I can't wait to see what kind of deals I can get on school stuff for this soon. Here's the link for anyone interested. Samaritan's Purse | Operation Christmas Child | OCC Index |

Sounds like a wonderful idea..I have been committing myself to donating to the county food bank every month (that was my new years resolution )and have faithfully been doing so, about 30 pounds of food each time and feel sooo good when I leave.matter of fact thats where Im going in a little while.

I LOVE this idea! Count me in! I cook meals for my local churches "emergency freezer" for people who have situations and need help. Like the birth of a baby, a death in the family, surgery, etc. I love being able to give that way but it just doesn't feel like enough, so I'm up for doing more! And what's the deal with the Ronald McDonald House? I've heard of them but that's about it (don't eat at McD's so I don't often see the ads for RMH). I read about donating tabs in another post. ??? Like soda can tabs? If so we've thrown enough away just this year to heat a whole town! I would love to be able to do something helpful with them. Could anyone help clue me in? |

I send an average of 2-3 boxes a month crammed full of stuff to our troops serving overseas in harms way. I have so much overflow that my brother who runs a support group for veterans takes lots of stuff each month to pass to his group members and the veterans hospital. All those diabetic monitors and extra bottles of low dose asprin get put to real good use. Not to mention the hoards of sample size products. Coupons can be such a blessing |

I have been using my stockpile to respond to those members of my local Freecycle and Craigslist who are having difficulty making ends meet. Often times they just need a helping hand until payday. I go shopping in my pantry and fill up a box, which helps me too when i have stuff we won't use.

The church I attend has a 40 bed womens and childrens shelter, which unfortunately is always full as so many are in need. I took several boxes of tioletries in end of last year and am putting together my next drop off now. If anyone in Baltimore area is looking for someplace to donate just let me know and I'd be happy to pass on contact info |

Someone mentioned in a previous post that shoe boxes are the perfect size for packing and shipping these. A thought just occured to me that the plastic Rubbermaid shoebox size storage containers would do great too! After they unpack them, they still have the "container" to use as well.

I have two favorite charities. The first one is the Disabled American Vets. I donate to them regularly. The other charity I love donating too (as do my kids) is the Faxon Animal Shelter in MA. My daughter loves to give things like pet food, blankets, etc. We also give regularly to the food pantry at our church and to the Red Cross. It makes me feel so good to give back, and now, my kids enjoy it, too! |

that's a great idea. I have been giving to a few family friends who have been laid off or lost jobs. I am just learning and hopefully I can get the free deals and can donate more.

This is so great! Once you get started with couponing, it's SOSO simple to be able to pick up even a couple of extra goodies to drop at your local food pantry or wherever. I donate almost weekly to my town food pantry, and all the blood glucose monitors I've amassed with CVS sales have been donated to a couple of senior centers around my area. It's great to see how excited people are about something that cost me little to nothing. It's great to be able to help.
