Awesome idea. I know every coupole months I take all the Q's I have and see what I can get for cheap or free with them, even if it's not somthing I would normally use, just to get stuff for the food bank. I'm actually doing a trip this weekend just for this purpose

My favorite is the nationalcasa dot org. Please check it out if you want to make a difference in a child's life. This is close to my heart because children have no voice nor choice. Let's nurture kids to become productive, responsible citizens for better and brighter tomorrows. thank you AFC!

I looked up my local food bank as I have a bunch of stuff that we don't use frequently that can go to help some other family not as blessed as us. You know it is hard to remember that no matter how hard I think I have it, someone for sure has it worse. And now that, thanks to my friends here at AFC, I do not have to worry about food by payday, I can help a family that does. I always see the bags you can buy at the Kroger for the Irving Cares program but for some reason it never clicked to seek out how to give from my stockpile and they ask for a lot of the things I have in my pantry way extra!

I have not been on this site very long, but it has helped us so much that I'm now very calm come shopping time and even have a small stockpile! First I want to thank you all for all the inspiration and support with all my ramblings You've all been such a great help, so much more than you realise. This thread has helped me find some places to donate what I have, this was part of my mission when I joined AFC. I'm a huge believer that we must support our community! Thanks AFC

When I was a Junior in high school I opened a thrift store at my church as my Junior Action project. That was about 10 years ago and it is still open today. My church is in a homeless area of Seattle and it has helped out many people. It is only opened on Fridays and at the same time there is a feeding program. Over 200 people are fed each week. I donate my food to them. It is nice to see it all used and appreciated. We donate about $500-$750 (retail/regular price) a month in food. I do not stockpile much HBA so I do not have much to donate in that department.

| great idea
It is so wonderful how afc keeps coming up with such great ideas. Dh and I are both unemployed right now and have been having garage sales to help pay bills and since I have found afc, and the wonderful things you can do with coupons, I give away in my free box, samples I get in mail and extra q inserts, ppl love the idea of qs at a gararge sale, esp. for free. I feel good knowing we helped in a small way.

This is a great idea. Since I started serious couponing I've been fortunate to donate to a number of causes, usually whatever comes along. I've sent items to a family member in Iraq, donated at our local Humane Society and sent personal items for a care package for a mom with cancer that I came across on my local mom board. My special cause is my buddy through Chemo Angels- it's a charity that matches "angels" with patients undergoing chemotherapy. My buddy is a child and I'm working on a package for his family right now. Thanks to what I've learned on AFC I have regular charity goals. My next one is to pull together personal and household products for a place in St. Paul called Breaking Free- they help women get out of prostitution and rebuild their lives. The vast majority of those women have been victims of sexual violence at some point in their lives and I really want to do my part to help. I'm so grateful to AFC for allowing me to be generous during these tight times.

I donate everything I can to my local animal shelter. They need more than just pet food, think toilet paper, paper towels, envelopes, paper, air freshener, bleach and so much more. I also make baskets of HBA stuff for them to auction off when they have their fund raiser events. I can't tell you how happy they are and how much they appreciate anything you can give to them. Seriously last week when I took my Kmart doubles stuff I thought the girl was going to hug me. They were thrilled.

I am the founder of a mom's group, currently in the process of making it a non-profit. I organize and coordinate events for the kids, we like to promote family values, help kids with social interaction and we like to incorporate a learning element. We get the kids outdoors and do festive themes, our most recent event was an Egg Hunt at the local schools playground. So far there are 40 moms, -plus all of our kids. Check us out on facebook. We have been paying the expense out of pocket and I was in search of a ways to save money, so I started using coupons. I now make gift baskets to raffle off to help pay for upcoming events, or I donate items to needy families. I have also been known bring boxes of cereal or etc. to the kids pre-school for snack time. Any questions let me know! ![]() Last edited by Lux Beram-Butcher; 05-03-2009 at 09:29 PM. Reason: misspell |

I am really new here but I am inspired! I live near two Marine bases. I will look into donating my items to the soldiers and their families. It is times like this that people need to give a hand up when you can and ask for one if you need it. I am going to make bargain hunting with coupons a regular thing. I so often see things I would never use but I could get them free or for pennies and never bought them. I now know what to do with all that formula, diapers, etc. that the stores are giving away! Thanks so much for the forum!

I don't get as much stockpile as the rest of you, but I do get enough to help my DD stuff her Samarantan's purse Christmas Shoeboxes (she did 12 this year) and I give stuff to the rescue mission for the ladies and children that the mission ministers to during the Christmas holiday. And where I don't have stuff to give, I give a little $$$.

I talked to my Postman the other day because the Postal Service had a commercial on TV saying they were collecting for local shelters. When I asked him if he was participating he said it was not just that one day. They do it all year round. So whenever I fill a box with all my donations I just leave it for him with his name on it and he takes it and leaves me a thank you post card letting me know he got it. Check with your postman or woman and see if they participate too! It could not be any easier!

I have been donating to a non profit called Help of Door County. They help local women and families affected by domestic abuse. They also have a monthly program where anyone in need can come in and get a bag that contains items such as toothpaste, toilet paper, diapers, etc, anything that other assistance programs won't cover. I actually have been slacking on my couponing and I haven't brought anything there in a while and now that I read this I think I am going to go load up this month and bring a big donation to them again! THANKS AFC!!! |

I don't really have enough to donate right now, but when I went to a charity to see if I qualified for help for my electric bill they had a table set up with hba and some canned goods. The woman told me they give those things to the homeless people here in our area. I asked her if she would be willing to take samples and she said of course. I went back the next day will all of the samples I've been getting, shampoo, lotion, kotex and tampons and pulled some canned goods from my cabinets and gave them to her. She just kept saying, you came to us for help and we couldn't help you but here you are giving up things you could use for others. My simple response was, this made me feel better to help others. Hopefully soon I'll be able to go back with more.
