Just to let you all know if you didn't already. I went to Staples yesterday to trade in an ink cartridge for a coupon and buy a new cartridge. She said they're not doing the $3 coupons anymore and that a lot of things are changing. I didn't ask her about the "other things", but didn't like the coupon change. She said that they credit an exchange on your acct. but didn't say what you get for that. The price of ink just went up $3 for me that way.. Uggghhhhh!! With all those coupons I print, ouch! ![]()

Total Bummer! I've been saving my cartridges up since my dd told me about the program. Might as well just send them away to recycle.

It is a quarterly check. But you have to have at least $9 credit in your Staples Reward account to receive the check. If not, your balance goes to the next quarter until you have accumulated at least $9 for Staples to write the check, and send it to you. I know. It was so much easier the other way. FYI...I was told you can only bring in 3 cartridges per day for the credit. I had 5 and had to come back to the store a few days later.

Its actually $10. If you have not accumulated $10 in your rewards account by the end of the quarter, then they roll the amount over to the next quarter. If you do not reach $10 by the end of the year, then they reset your amount to zero. I am the bookkeeper for our local Staples. The nice thing about this, especially if you recycle a lot of cartridges as I do, you will get a much bigger reward to use for a better deal on a bigger ticket item. Just last month I recycled 20 cartridges for my childrens school. That will mean a $60 reward )just for Apreils recycling) to use on the purchase of anything the school can use...much better than 3x$3 coupons, and remember you can use your rewards with any Staples coupons you may have to make it even better

So is each cartridge still worth a $3 credit?? Also, is this program for ALL cartridges or does it once again not include Canon cartridges?

I have bought the coupons in the past off of eBay. Costs about a $1 for $3 coupon - so you can get some that way. Good point wunbusymom said - if you turn in a lot of cartridges you can now get a bigger savings for just $9 for that transaction which has limited this savings opportunity for me in the past. Got stuff for free or almost for free but low price items. Now want a new printer??? Buy the empty ink cartridges on eBay for less than a $1 and turn them in. So say you spend $50 on cartridges, you will get a $150 check from Staples and then you can get a nice printer!!! I am not sure if there is limitations to what you can buy with the quarterly check though. Hope that information helps.

I have a few ?'s because I'm confused. 1. What account? Do they set up an account? or put on acredit card? 2. when do the quarterly periods end? 3.What kind of cartridges do they take?

You can always donate them to Petsmart. They have prepaid mailing bags that you ship them in and they use the money to save more animals! I loved the staples thing too though. With a business my dad and I each go through about 20 or so a year!

You have to register for the Staples Reward card. Your credits are tied to that account(not a credit card acct., just a frequent shopper type of card to earn bonuses and such).

scrapnladybug is right. They have a rewards program that you sign up for and they scan it everytime you make your purchase. If you're like me and you never seem to have your card with you they can pull up your information in the computer with your phone number so you get credit for your purchases & your cartridges. HTH

Just to let you all know that Office Max will take your empty printer cartridges and you'll get $3.00 off the price of a new printer cartridge.

D'oh! I wish I would have read this first because I was just coming to post it! The lady told me that they would come added on to my rewards check. I was really disappointed. I'm just worried that whe those checks go out, they may only add 1 $3 credit....

Staples Ink questions To answer a few of the questions from above. Staples accepts HP, Lexmark, and Dell toner and ink cartridges. They are worth $3 for each one scanned. Do not turn in anymore than 3 per day or you will not receive proper credit on your account. The cashier can scan in as many as you turn in, but the system catches the 3 per day limit and will not give you credit beyond that. If you have any of the $3 coupons stockpiled, be sure to use these up by the last day of June as they will not be accepted after then. From what we have heard in our updates, the register will not even let a manager override accept these after the date, but we will see if that is really true when the time comes. As far as Canon/Epson cartridges being accepted anywhere here in my area OD and OM do not even accept these.
