I signed up and recieved a rewards card but with certain deals making things free.. do I pay the oop up front or does it come off as soon as I swipe my card? Hope that made sense. TIA

You'll pay the OOP and receive the rewards later. It's similar to how the rewards at Staples and OfficeMax work.

i wonder if this would be good to combine with the 3m rebate of buy $20 get $10 back. I need to look into this if anyone knows let me know.

Looking online I see that the 3M™ Color Permanent Inkjet/Laser Filing Labels, 2/3" x 3 7/16", White, Pack Of 750 is $23.99 and qualifies for 100% back in rewards. If I submit for the rebate it would be a $10 MM? Would this work?

I was barely going to say I just googled 3M rebate and found it get it and save it before they remove it.

Yes, as earlier poster said, you must pay oop. The rewards money shows up online in the form of a certificate the first month after the quarter in which you earned the rewards. So, October is when you will get the rewards money for anything purchased in July.

Helpful hint that some of us have learned the hard way:

NEVER use your rewards money to pay for items that are part of a new rewards deal! If you do, the purchases become ineligible and you won't see a penny of it back!

Here's an example:

In July, you spend $50 on labels that offer 100% back after worklife rewards. That means in October, the first month after the July-Aug-Sept quarter ends, you will get a certificate for $50 credit at Office Depot. Let's say they're offering a new 100% deal on Rubbermaid products in October. DON'T use that $50 certificate to buy the Rubbermaid deal! If you pay with cash/credit card, etc, you'll be fine--just make sure you use the rewards money for something that's not part of a rewards deal.
