The boy and girl where born premature but are in perfect health. The woman and her 77-Year old Man always wanted a son to continue their farm. They already have two adult daughters and five grand children. The poor family sold their buffalo’s, used all their savings and took a loan to get a special treatment to get pregnant. They are delighted to finally get a son, as it is tradition in India that the son has the right to a dowry when he gets married. Very bizarre story.... They didn't realize about 30 years ago that they didn't have a son yet and try then. I think it is almost unfair for their children as they aren't going to be around too much longer. |

Yeah I have mixed feelings on this. If a loving couple wants a child I would pray they'd be able to have that child somehow but this is just odd. Like others said I don't really think its fair to the kids because they are obviously not going to be around very long if the kids were born when they are that age! I mean why didn't they do it sooner? 70? Geesh.... Because they wanted an heir? |

I don't know how she could physically make it through a twin pregnancy at 70 years old. Being pregnant with twins at 33 nearly killed me!

| I agree! I'm exhausted at my age at the end of the day! I can't imagine being in my 70's with little ones!

| Did anyone see the Oprah show rerun last week about women in India being hired to carry your embryo(baby) for $5500.00 US $$...It will buy the India women a brand new home & and education for her children. One women was paid $7500 to carry twins. You actually go over there, and they remove your egg and your DH stuff they mix them. When it splits in to 8 cells they take the embryo and put it into to the surrogate. A lot of American women who can't afford this in the US are going over there to have it done. It was an interesting show. But this old lady having a baby is just crazy. Her grand kids are going to end up raising the baby's. |

Yeah, I think it was kind of selfish of her to be having babies in her 70s. Most likely those children are not going to be fully raised by her.

It is a different culture, but yet, it makes the girl daughters 'useless' when it comes to owning the family property. Family also had to go into 'hock' according to the report that I read, so that boy baby will have lots of bills to pay off for being born. |
