Wow, Publix grows even more! Thank goodness because the Albertsons around here are gross! Some of the stores they are buying are right near existing Publixs so you may want to look out for good buys or store closing sales at those Albertsons.

I agree in my area, I bet at least 2 of them have to be closing.

I was just coming to post this! I know at least on of the stores losted has a Publix at the same intersection! Both in my town are closing and one did last year. But the next exit over has one and it is about as close as mine town's but less traffic (and CVS across the street )

That town has 2 and is much smaller than my town ~ but obviously Albies is offering up their less profitable stores.

This one is right near the Publix that I used to work at for 3 years. It was gross! I wonder what they will do with the Albies gas station out front?

Good question about the gas station. I was talking to a patient of mine today who is a mgr at one... she said that this is all supposed to go down September 9th I think it was. So keep eyes open for big sales! However, I too would have about 5 Publix in a 4 mile radius if they opened in the sold Albertsons shops.. so I don't think they're going to do that. I think they'll probably sell those buildings off to someone, but I doubt they'd sell to another grocer. Because if you think about it Publix would have several stores with in a mile of eachother (at least around here) and they would be putting so much money into gutting the place, re stocking, employees, etc... it just doesn't make sence, I think they're doing this to boost sales at current stores even more. This mgr I talked to said that they might buy out even more Albertsons stores at some point.

You know what though, I do recall her telling me she was trying to keep her job but transfer it with Publix, and she said that Publix split her one position up among 4 different employees, so maybe they will be reopening into Publix? I can't complain though, I LOVEEE me some Publix and all their good deals.

I was talking to a patient who is a mgr at a Publix and said that Publix is thinking of opening a "Greenwise" store just to sell ALL organic, kind of like Whole Foods, in one of the local purchased Albertsons locations.

I didn't shop at Albertsons anyway.. too far from me. A friend would go and get the Scoot toilet paper deals when they came out, so I will miss those.
