| Sounds like a good idea to ME. Especially on food and OTC drugs. Everyone hear about the chicken recall???? It's beginning to get a little scary!!! I read in PARADE magazine yesterday that some of our prescriptions may have been tampered with, too. A "RECALLS" Forum might help all of us try to stay a little safer. Mods, whatcha think? May be have such a forum? |

| We have only had 12 or 13 posts for recalls in the past 2 years so IMO a forum for it wouldn't be very practical, you can post them in ChitChat if you like. BUT its up to Monica of course to create the forum or not. I tried a very long time ago to post recalls on childrens items and people complained that they didn't care about them, they could sign up if they wanted to ... etc etc ![]() ![]() So I stopped posting them. |

that's terrible hh....I think these recalls are important (or they should be); Albeit, some of the recalls are not as serious as the food and drug items, until someone's kid gets hurt. |

We pay a quasi-socialist heavy tax system (& regs that protect big pharma prices) but receive very little basic Consumer protection on food & drugs. Chickens are loaded with drugs, slaughterhouses are dirty, & the distribution & in store refrigeration systems etc are lacking. Only thing much worse than poultry is beef. Pork is actually safer than beef now (unless bought from a small store especially in warmer months). (Disclaimer: yes I am stupid enough to still eat it though not as much as years past). So-called organic meat & poultry etc has little definition & regulation = just higher prices. American medicines have by far more counterfeiting & storage degredation problems than the much better controlled Canadian system. The FDA tries to stop importation & reimportation direct from Canadian pharmacies at substantial savings to US Consumers b/c they claim they're protecting us. All they're protecting is big pharma's lobbying $s & profits. The lobbying $s/pressure now against Canada has turned that safe pipeline into sourcing from places like Turkey. It's our corrupt government that needs to be recalled (referring to both parties). Some tips that can help a little. Don't buy Rx from small pharmacies; use national chains (not safe, but safer). Don't buy OTC meds (including toothpaste) from small stores & especially not dollar stores. Limit consumption of poultry, beef, & most fish (except sardines, herring, wild salmon, wild trout, wild steelhead, & with limits canned non albacore tuna). |

| You mean people actually PAY FOR Toothpaste? (just razzin ya fremont) |

Most normal people pay for toothpaste. Even most couponers at least pay tax for toothpaste. I feel sorry for them & help them LOL! We only get it when it's FREE or PROFIT after tax. We're not normal & I'll guess you're not normal. Actually I might be more normal than you. Here's why. We don't pay even tax for toothpaste for DW & DS (& we use quality ones LOL), but I do pay for my own Sensodyne or Aquafresh Sensitive (unless I get it free trading actuals locally to someone who wants Crest Pro Health). I admit/confess I haven't found any super deals yet on Sensodyne. I don't count getting it for zero OOP when it's only a result of overage that belongs as Profit from something else. |

| even the $1/1 coupons don't make for free sensodyne or A.Sensitive...so you are more normal than me. ![]() |

That being said, I do not at all mind the posts such as the recent ones regarding the food recalls. I just don't want people relying solely on AFC for such info. |

I know for a fact that what you are saying is true, fremont. I've been buying most of MY prescriptions from Canada Drugs for a good number of years now because I can get them for less than HALF what I would pay at Wal-Mart - which is the cheapest pharmacy I can find around here. This past year, my Pravachol has been imported from Great Britain, and it's never the same pill twice. I just wish OUR government could find some sort of solution for us poorer seniors that would regulate the prices on the drugs we HAVE to take! Que sera sera.... |
