This was in the SF Chronicle.. However it was a small article and I could not find it on their website. I did find a Target symbol with the word "sponsor" on their website though... that could be the reason. I know none of us here on AFC would be a victim since we scrutinzie ever penny.....

"Target stores have agred to pay a $1.7 million civil penalty for overcharging California customers through electronic cash register scanners that rang up too high prices, the Sonoma County district attorney's office said Tuesday"

The stores, without admitting guilt, also agreed to improve their pricing procedures for the next four yests.

The case arose after weights and measures inspectors in Sonomac, contra Costa, Marin, Santa Cruz, and Fresno counties found "numberous occasions where the price charged at the cash register was not the lowest posted price,' according to a statement from the Sonoma County District Attorney's office.

I love that they "did not admit any wrong doing".

I was hoping that they would have to post a savings coupon for thier customers like Macy's had to years ago when they were busted for their prices scanning higer.

At least it might help to avoid overcharges in the future!

This is the direct result of people calling in the price discrepancies to their county weights and measures department. Keep calling them in when you find them!

Glad you found a link for it though.. the paper I got it out of only had a small section about it.. probably becasue they're sponsered by Target but who knows.
