It is true...Linens and Things is closing...all of them. The company has decided to close all stores after no one offered to make a decent bid to buy the company. ![]() Linens 'n Things to liquidate remaining stores: Reuters Business News - MSN Money

Sad. I posted this a while back. Too many stores selling the same thing did this store in.

I know...the article says the housing market is to blame as well. I bet they won't accept the coupons now.

This is so sad and unfortunately probably just the beginning of a lot of store closings. If anyone has GC's you'd better use them quickly if they are still accepting them!

I got an email from LNT previously regarding a sale. It says in fine print that LNT GCs will not be accepted in stores that are closing. I ran to my nearest LNT to use my remaining balance on LNT GC that I got in one of their promo. I don't think Bed Bath and Beyond will take LNT GCs. I'm not sure now if BBB will still honor LNTs expired coupons, I have lots of the expired $5/$15 and will try to see if I can stack it with 20% off total purchase. Before LNT closes here, its worth a shot at our BBB.

Gotta make lemonade out of lemons, start thinking Christmas gifts with all those great going out of business sales!

There will probably be lots of good sales. I will be checking out the one near me on Thursday. This economy just makes me so sad. I hate to see all of those jobs lost. BBB is a different company so they will not accept LnT gift cards. I'd use them asap.

I can tell you that the sales aren't really that great until the very end. I worked part time at LNT and my store was in the first round of store closings in August. I opened the store 5 years ago and during my 5 years....well let me tell you...i'm stocked up on pretty much everything household because of some of the super deals i got with my discount. I was known for being the employee that would buy anything if it was marked down at least 75%!!! I just want to educate our members so you understand when you're REALLY getting a good deal!!! Anywho~~~when the liquidation company purchases the inventory EVERYTHING gets marked up to its regular retail price, except for a select few "aged" inventory items and liquidation starts at 10% off. The deals are horrible. For example: BEFORE LIQUIDATION Set of cookware~~ Regular price~$200 Advertised sale price $149.99 plus you could use a 20% off coupon making the final price $119.99 AFTER LIQUIDATION Set of cookware $200 less 10% liquidation discount of 10% ~~$180 Then after a few weeks it would go down 20%.....still more than before liquidation. In order for you to even come close to the decent sale price you really needed to wait until 50% off came around. I can tell you I was shocked at how fast the merchandise went at 20%-30% off!!! People were not getting a deal at all. It was all perception and marketing. Heck, I didn't even buy anything until at least 60% off because I knew the prices before liquidation. Most people could have driven to BBB anytime before the 60% off sales and gotten a better deal. Just PLEASE be a smart shopper!!!! Last edited by AngieP; 10-14-2008 at 12:04 PM.

Sad about all the people losing thier jobs, but maybe we can get some good deals? I hope that is not too selfish. I see this happening alot more in the future. Many BIG chain restaurants around here have been closing. Makes me worry for dh's job. I don't even complain anymore when he "needs" to work 70-80 hours, b/c well, at least he has a job. I let him do whatever it takes to remain productive and have good numbers.
