Just checked our bottled water and battery supplies. You never know but as of noon it looks like it could land pretty close to us. I, too, hate hurricane season.

Sorry about this guys...remember though even though you're in hurricane territory I'll take our hurricanes over tornado alley any day! At least we have SOME chance to prepare. Stay safe guys...I'll pray for you!

The biggest problem with hurricanes is that they spawn tornadoes. So we still get the tornadoes and hurricanes together. Unfortunately being on the West side of the storm you get the worst weather and from what it looks like Orlando will be on the East side - yeah-NOT. One thing I don't have to worry about is batteries - thanks to CVS.

It was and I got my East and West backwards. Need more coffee before posting.

We lived in Gainesville for 3 years, experienced one inland Tropical Storm with all of the tornadoes, not fun. I stopped by the store before it made landfall, the shelves were Cleared completely! I told my DH "Maybe we should panic, everyone else seems to be doing so!" LOL
Couponed even then though (1983), everyone made fun of my Arkansas pantry (full in case you might get snowed in) but I was fine.

Lived in Sarasota for 15 years, on the water, was there when Andrew hit south of us. I looked at my husband (when they told me that if it had been just a few degrees north there would have been 8 feet of water in my house) and said "We are moving back to Arkansas! I will take a tornado over this any day!)

So, stay safe, remember to get your prescription meds, food for pets, important papers in ziploc bags, and follow the checklist.

I have lived in Florida all of my life (26 years)! I have lived through many hurricanes but every year I still become worriesome. We still have lots of hurricane supplies from the last few years (flashlights, etc). We to Wal-Mart this morning to get some more canned food and everyone was loading up on the supplies.

Tornados are a horrible side effect of hurricanes. They occur on the tail end of the hurricanes.

Well, natural disasters are part of nature...it can't be stopped. I still much prefer that we get hurricanes because I like getting O>U>T> with my kids for a big hurricane vs. huddled in a storm shelter like when I was a kid.
