My husband is in the police academy right now. We have a 3 year old son. It's hard with him gone! Does it get easier??!! LOL, probably not!

Ha! no... With my husband working nights, we really only see him for an hour while he's getting ready on those days. We try to make the most of the days that he is off though. We also try and meet him for dinner whenever possible. He is putting in for Detective instead of patrol that would enable him to spend more time with us (after a couple months of being on call 24/7!) This would really help us!

Well ladies my dh just got off mids and then went out of town for 4 days!! hows that grab ya!! I can't wait for my turn to pick up and leave town without the kids for 3 or 4 days!!! LOL! that will never happen and we all know it!!!

My DH is also a firefighter.. 24 on 48 off, unless he works overtime. What's a cops shift usually?

I have been a dispatcher//911 operaor for 8 years. We have long weird hours and miss out on a lot of family time too. I just try to make the most of what time I have.

mids 11:00pm/7:00am!!!! yuck to all!!!!!

I am a wife of a Georgia Bureau of Investigations agent. He is basically on call 24/7. He investigates murders, child malestation, ect. He loves his job so much and we have a 4 yr old daughter and a 2 month old son. It is hard when he is gone. I totally understand what everyone has been saying. Wish he could be with us more.

All I can say is find someone to talk to, and try not to take it personal!!!! I realized that a long time ago!!! Hope everyone's thanksgiving went well!!!
