I went to Walmart yesterday with the intention of getting many many many items. I was alone for the first part of it so I dropped my cart off at Customer Service so I could get another cart. They held my carts for me at no problem. My friend arrived and we had a total of 4 carts worth of stuff. THere was dog food on clerence for .50cents and than I had a coupon for $1 off!!! I was sooooo excited. I got all of the clerenced dog foods and then because of the excess amount of coupons I had went to the isle and picked up a lot more. I went to check out and the cashier decided to only ring the one from the clerence isle as a multiple item ring up. I didnt even notice that's what she did because I specifically separated each type at the check out and told her I had "20 of each type" At the end the CSM came over and called store secrutiy and the store manager. They treated me like I was stealing from the store. They ended up honoring the original receipt but not after making me feel like I was shop lifting. I walked out of the store with every single employee stairing me down. I had over 600 items that I purchased in that order and was standing at check out for 2 hours. I had ads for every single price match I did and coupons to match them. With 600 items its really hard to keep track of the cashier's method of ringing up. Any ideas so I dont encounter this in the future? |

Wow that's horrible. It's hard to keep up at Walmart cause they don't have big screens to watch like most stores. I'm sorry that happened Sent from my iPhone using AFullCup |

On the upside my total before coupons was 533.19, my total at the end was 45.64.... the time and pain was worth the savings.. I just dislike being looked at as a shop lifter... checkout took 2 hours! I just hate following every single rule and being viewed like I did something wrong. I'm proud I saved money, I'm proud I can use that money for my daughter. They made me feel dirty for it |

Wow, sorry you had to go through that. I don't have any ideas on how to avoid it next time. I always have my adds with me before I go I make a list of what I am price matching along with the coupon I'm using.

I know I have said this before... but how dare these stores view us as "getting away with something" when they spend millions of dollars in ads and marketing strategies and consultants to part us from our hard-earned money. If we are getting away with anything it is beating them at their own game--and doing it legally and honorably (we play by the rules). I also will never understand why some cashiers get so upset--they are not making the big bucks either and I would think there should be a feeling that we are all in this together. They can watch and learn. Glad you got a great deal for all your trouble!!

Thank you very much. It just stinks when you follow every rule, I circled every ad in dark marker, had every ad on me, a copy of the coupon policy, a bopy of the PM policy, and one coupon per item... I have a feeling that if I didnt have every single one of those things I would not have been able to leave the store. I'm friends with a cashier that works at the store (this was not the person who checked me out), and he informed me that the security manager said he was going to review all of the security cameras of me walking through the store to make sure I "didnt get away with anything else." I mean seriously!!! IF I'm going to shoplift am I going to stand in one place for 2 hours to check out??? am I going to show every single ad I have to match with? am I going to have a binder with hundreds if not thousands of coupons in it? Sorry, I'll be done with the rant for now!!1 Thanks for letting me vent a little about the expierence I had |

I have learned at walmart to keep my transactions small, and if I have alot of stuff to break them in ways to put alittle overage in each one with items to absorb it. Its the only way I can keep track, I've been burned by walmart way to many times. I also, and most will say this is crazy idk, makes them ring each item and then use my coupon I hand them, and I watch and make sure on the little credit card machine that the coupon went though. I'm pretty weird, but I haven't had a issues with how I want my stuff rang up. And I know when I leave, that everything is done right and correct. And tbh, ringing things up that way, really doesn't add that much time at all. And it saved me the going to customer service to fix any mistakes. But good job for you, you got an amazing deal! Don't feel you did ANYTHING wrong! Walmart is the bad guy for doing that to you!

I know this isn't what you want to hear but my only suggestion for next timeis smaller transactions or several trips. It sucks with gas prices but may be a lot easier with the same savings? Sent from my iPhone using AFullCup

Wow, thats really pathetic that manager saying hes going to review the tapes. I would call corporate and complain about how you were treated. He's just mad cause you got amazing savings and he's not smart enough to do it also!

600 items? In one transaction? Wow. I agree that they shouldn't make it seem as if you did something wrong. Like others have stated, breaking it down to a few manageable transactions might have helped ease the angst for everyone.

I've decided it would be easier to make a few trips in and out of the store, splitting things up to have smaller transactions. That way I have less items ringing up to watch and less coupons to keep track of all at once. Also less wrath from the cashiers and people behind me .

I agree with above posters...you did nothing wrong but because you had so many items etc it drew attention to you...and 600 items (for anyone whether they use Q's or not) looks strange and will get unwanted attention. I always try to make small purchases. If I have alot of Q's to use and dont want to make tons of trips to the store...I get a few items...check out...go out to the car then go back and get a few more and checkout in a different line. Its a pain to do this but I'd rather fly under the radar than have the store "watch" for me when I shop kwim? Sorry OP...at least you got your deals ...great couponing btw

I'm sorry to ask a silly question, but I'm a newbie of about 4 weeks. You keep saying Walmart price matches. Does that mean if I see an item in the CVS flyer (or whatever flyer) for cheaper than Walmart sells it, Walmart will give me that price? Again, newbie so I apologize for this stupid question. By the way, great job on the score of your 600 items! |

I know you didn't know that the cashier rang it up as a multiple ring item, but next time I'd make it a point to make them scan every item seperately. Sure it'd be a pain in the butt for them and the people behind you would be annoyed, but then maybe WalMart would learn to open more than 2 lanes during busy times of the day! I say press on with your large transactions. You're still going to get the same amount of items for the same amount of savings and prices so why should you have to make multiple trips? The only "problem" you should have with that amount of items is in the policy it says the system will prompt for supervision if you have 40+ coupons, coupon greater than $20 or $50+ in coupons.... Other than that they should just scan away!! I'm sorry to hear about your experience! |

There were other overages I had as well, but that was the bulk of my overage. I tried looking at other Walmarts and the one I went to was the only one with that many dog foods on clerence. So, I took advantage of the opprotunity. I'll break apart all future transactions from now on. I normally do. I think this transaction was kind of a "to see how low I could get a big order to" type of thing. I didnt do it to draw attention, I did it for the challenge. As a result I'm donating several boxes of dog food to the Humane Society, and several Health and Beauty products to Lydia House a local shelter. I just used the overage to pay for the rest of the transaction and made sure to have a coupon for every item in the cart to bring the total as low as possible. From now on I'll go back to my smaller transactions. I'd rather not deal with this drama. Thanks everyone! |

i agree with everyone else...while under no circumstance should employees treat a customer badly...you really should keep your transactions to a reasonable amount...may take you longer to actually check out multiple times but in the long run it will save time from all the hassle. normally if i have large orders I do one and put it in my car and go back in for the other ...gives me a chance to check my 1st order for errors and recheck the math for my 2nd order. Hope you have better luck next time

I think sometimes, smaller transactions are best, checkout and put it in your car, then come back in and do the same thing all over again.

Yes, walmart will price match against your local stores. Check out walmart's price match policy on their website, it's very informative. Also, at our walmart they have giant signs hanging from the ceiling all over the store advertising their price matching.
