| Bad trip to WalGreens
Today I went to my area WalGreens to use more Zantac coupons. I did two transactions with a cashier I hadn't seen before and she was WONDERFUL! My husband called and asked me to pick up some tuna and I thought, "Why not go back to WalGreens and use my RRs to get the sale tuna." I do some shopping at WalMart and go back to WalGreens. I go in, get 2 tunas, use my $1 RR (I did this twice). When a different, but nice, cashier rang up my order, she says, "I'm not sure I'm supposed to be doing this!" I asked her what. She said, "Let you get out of here with products and paying so little." I was taken aback. I asked her why, did she think I was doing something wrong. She said, "No! I LOVE what you do and I want you to teach me, but I heard the tail end of a conversation about you and how you get out of here for so little and how 'they' think your ROBBING THE STORE!" I told her, "thank you" and left. I was HOT ![]() I immediatley called corporate! The lady I talked to seemed very upset about the matter! She said if you were doing something wrong the registers wouldn't allow it. And she told me that RRs were to help you buy products at a discount. I asked her if they were reimbursed by the manufacturer for the RRs and she said as far as she knew they were. She took my info and said someone would be calling me. On Sunday I had a bad experience at my local wg, the manager and photo lab girl basically babysat me and my favorite cashier told me that she got into trouble bc of me but didn't go into any details. I KNOW that I'm not doing anything wrong as I go to other wg stores and roll my rr's, pay little out of pocket, etc. NOTHING I am doing is illegal or immoral and I'm very upset with the way I was treated! This is a new store and obviously needs to be educated! |

So sorry that happened to you! Some of the employees just don't understand how coupons work and they don't seem to understand that they are going to get all of that money back plus some for their trouble. I've had to explain it to many cashiers when I get comments like "If you keep shopping here we are going to go out of business", etc. No, I keep you in business! Ugh. Very frustrating!

isn't it nice to know that they are talking about you? I can usually tell when i'm getting talked about and I immediately can feel myself turning red. I don't want them to know that they are getting to me but it just makes me feel dirty or something. On Monday, I decided to clean out all the Airwicks. The way I figure it, they place an order on Tuesday and if I clean them out Monday night, they will have a chance to order more for the rest of the week. So there I am with my cart loaded high and I was already feeling a little sleazy. But I think, what the heck... other people do it and this is not my usual Wags so I will go out with a bang. As I approach the register, the night manager was watching me and must have said something to the girl working the register as I walked past. I could not see her but I just knew that she was saying something about me. Just then the check out girl looks at the manager and says.... "What, I didn't hear you". I turned around, looked her dead in the eye and said, "Don't worry, she was just talking about me" and proceeded with my transaction. The manager felt so silly, that she high tailed it outta there and ran for the back room. I'm a mother, dang it, and i DO have eyes in the back of my head.

Very sorry that that happened to you! I have gotten this same treatment at my local CVS.. Thankfully my Walgreens loves to see me come in and see what kind of deals I've got planned (so some of them can do the same) I also will share some of my coupons with my favorite BA and the manager that's usually there. Don't you worry about it, and keep going back to this Wag's so that they can get their much needed "education" from you!

The next time a clerk talks about Walgreens going out of business, ask her why the Walgreens stock just hit a yearly high and is up YTD at almost 60%. Just in the last 6 months the stock has risen 29%. They just reported fourth quarter profits that beat the Wall Street expectations. Maybe we had something to do with that.

I had similar commentary made to me by a cashier at Target. After scanning my coupons (which he painfully scruntized), he realized that I got my Chex mix bags for .23c a bag and he said "Wait a minute here! You are getting these for .23 cents a bag! That's disgusting! You should be ashamed of yourself! Here I am going broke!". He totally said that! He only seemed half joking too. He has made similar comments in the past too, but not quite so harsh. I just laughed, got my stuff and got out of there. I was angry and embarrassed. |

Today at Walgreens I got some grief from the cashier. She had to go thru everything to "make sure I wasn't getting it for free" because that isn't right (using Wags and MFQ's in combo). Well I wasn't, I was just getting it darn near close to free. She was just jealous (and she admitted it at the end) that I got $70 worth of stuff for $6.00.

Oh man, that is so sad...I know how you feel that happened to me already in CVS, and I don't have a lot of coupons either.....hope you get a phone call back from the store...keep us posted....

That is just insane. I know on Sunday when I was at target, I had a bunch of coupons and the cashier acted like it killed her to use them. Then after she took all my coupons, she called the manager over and made a comment like, I thought they could only use 1 coupon per transaction. My kids were with me, so I didn't want to start something. So we left. If my kids had not been there with me, I would have made a comment about is there a problem? I have a hard time just biting my tongue when people say something, It took every ounce of strength i had not to say something. |

Ugh, I'm sorry this happened to you. Depending on my mood I just stare at them without saying a word, I'm sure it makes them feel stupid (wouldn't you) and then I would call and complain later.

I don't understand why cashiers take coupon usage and great deals so personally. They need to realize that just because a coupon is used, a sale is still being made at their store which helps them keep their job. Employees and managers both need an crash course on how coupons work. It's sad that good cashiers/managers/stores are hard to find.

I am subject to these ignorant attitudes weekly at Wags. Corporations' marketing departments spend millions of dollars on these product campaigns. Why? Because if consumers try and like a product, it will become a cash cow that can give for decades. For example, Cover Girl introduced a foundation about 30+ years ago and it's still available everywhere. You've seen it--the one in the triangular bottle. (I think P & G owns the brand now.) |

Sorry that happened. I can't understand why do they print so many coupons then they don't want people to use them. What's is the difference if I use 3 coupons and two others don't or 3 people use one coupon. For every person who use coupons 9 don't. And if the store runs out of items they are not ordering enough for their customers and they need to talk to their stock manager. And If Walgreens is going to run a sale they should have enough merchandise for their customers. I quess they figure if you come for the sale item and its not there you will buy something else thats not on sale.
