Since when is "shopping" considered loitering?! That one really blows me away! I was in on Sat night to pick Adidas deo that they had on sale for 1.99. I had 18 coupons, and knew going in that there was no way they were going to let me buy 18! I put 10 in my cart. I was surprised how much stock they had for this item, because they usually run out on sale items. The store was going to close in 3 hours. The manager that had threatened to "look over my shoulder whenever I came in" was not working - thank goodness! I talked to another assistant manager, and asked her if it would be okay for me to pick up another 8, leaving them with probably 15 or so after that. She could see my point - last night of sale, expiring coupons, but she said she didn't want to do it until she spoke to store manager. Well, that didn't help me last night, but I was glad that I got 10 this time, and she will find out if in the future under those circumstances would it be okay for me to take more. She did say that she has had to deal with some really angry upset customers when they didn't have inventory, therefore they will exercise their right to limit quantities. I appreciated that we were able to have a civil conversation about it. I think if I walk in and see that other assistant manager that wants to follow me around, I'm going to turn around and walk back out. I don't need to subject myself to his bad behavior.

I am sorry about your bad coupon experiance. Let me just say not all walgreens are this way. I absolutly love my walgreens and will be terribly disapointed when I have to move next month. I only hope I can find another walgreens half as friendly.

Have you ever had limits set on items you buy by a manager? No, but I expect it every time. Most the coupons and some of the ad items have limits on them. I know that stores have the right to limit quantities of everything else. Have you noticed that most of the ESQs have a limit of 1, unless you have to buy more for the coupon? I don't want to be the one to clear the shelves and make the stores start taking notice of limits, so I try to keep it reasonable. Of course, my idea of reasonable depends on the limit and how much they have stocked. When I bought the Schick razors I was able to get 8-12 at a time in one transaction. I did mix it up and get 3-4 of each kind so I wasn't wiping anything out. I swear I didn't even take 1/3 of them and I did it on the last day. If there is something that I want a lot of I usually start making a trip into the store every time I am near one and spread it out over several days and stores. As far as rainchecks are concerned, my stores likes the number 4. If there is no limit in the ad they will ask how many I want and usually won't go over 4. One time I got one for 6 packs of diapers. I will just get rainchecks from different stores if I need more. I have 4 stores to choose from, so 16 of anything should be enough. If not I could always go in on another shift or day and get another RC. Of course, would only use one at a time, they don't expire. I don't have the guts to ask for a raincheck on an item that I just cleared out (unless there was just 1 or 2), but I will go back the next day to get one.

Maybe I'm just different, but I have no problem w/ stores limiting how much 1 customer can purchase. Look on these boards and the number of people complaining how there's no stock. One person should not be able to swoop in and take all the stock, unless there's only a couple left. I don't think it's fair to other customers or to the store who has to listen to complaints all week about no stock. JMO, Lisa

You were lucky with 3. I had 6 Pert Plus and 6 Aquafresh at a store and the woman told me limit 1. I agreed to it (knowing I could easily find the sale at other stores) but still thought it was odd that she let me buy 4 of two other items (I think razors and deodorant). It is my understanding that they have a right to set limits but I would argue too that the limits should be universal (not just a few select customers or a few select sales). I guess that would mean... at least following the limits in the ad to avoid confusion.
