Need to vent about the Schick Razors deal

Hi everyone,

I hardly ever make negative posts but I'm just so frustrated that I knew you'd understand.

My visit to my closest Walgreens didn't start out very well. I had to ask the manager to fix the pricing on Halloween candy which was advertised as 75% off but didn't scan that way.

As you know, Wags had the Schick Quattro Razors on sale for $5.99 (down from $8 something). And there was a $3.00 IVC to go with it making them $2.99 each.

The first problem was that they only had one kind of Schick Quattro razor in stock (the sensitive kind). But it rang up at $8 something. Cashier had to call same manager who probably was already irritated at me because of the candy. She "allows" the cashier to adjust the price down to $5.99 as stated in the ad. I was buying only two. So when they scan the IVC it makes them $2.99 each.

The problem was when I presented the Schick Quattro Buy One, Get one free coupon. This would have made the razors free. This manager said she had already given me $3.00 off each razor and that she would not accept both coupons. So after all the fuss and time the manager spent with me I told her to just take the razors off (I was buying candy 75% off too). She didn't say a word but I could tell she was angry. Me being a person who hates to rock the boat--I just apologized for being a PITA.

Has this happened to anyone else? Should I contact Corporate or is this a case of YMMV?

I've noticed the Wags stores tightening up on this issue (and register rewards) and I'm almost afraid to go in and buy anything any more. It was humiliating to have this happen with one of my favorite cashiers and also the customers behind seeing all this.

Please let me know your thoughts!

Linda

It happened to me last night as well when the cashier only put 2.99 for my BOGO coupon instead of the full 5.99 to make them free. Telling me that since they took off 3.00 each because of the IVC she had to adjust the coupon down to 2.99. I just told her to void my transaction and i'll go elsewhere. I can't stand it when things don't go as i plan.

Sorry it happened to you.

I"m sorry this happened as well. I feel your pain.

I made sure I hand my MFR coupon first - and let the cashier search on the reciept for the price (and she says $5.99 right?) I confirm... then hand the rest of my Q's, with the IVC last.

Don't give up couponing just because of one bad experience. It's happened to us all. =)

I've had similar situations. Luckily, I live in a large enough city that there are several Walgreen's. There are 4 in a 15 mile radius around my home. But, I've learned (from other posts on AFC) to give the cashiers the BOG cpns 1st. This way they take off the full or sale price, then I hand them the IVC. Hope this helps.

Hey ladies, I have a question. I am new to AFC and couponing, and this weekend will be my very first trip to the grocery store with my coupons.(yehhh!) My question is how could both razors end up being free? Maybe I am not catching it, but if the sale price is $5.99-$3.00 for the IVC makes them $2.99 each. If you have a BOGO free coupon, wouldn't you still have to pay the first one @ $2.99 to get the other one free? Fultimers----in your post you said after both coupons both of the razors would've been free so I was just a little confused at that. It could be that I have been looking through posts on the site since this morning and so my brain might be fried right now. I appreciate any tips you have to share. This sight has opened my eyes up to a new perspective on couponing and I love it. I'm like a kid with a new toy =)[/size]

If they give you the $5.99 (original sale price before IVC) for the coupon BOGO and they are $2.99 each after the IVC then you have 5.99 less 5.98...........makes them free.

It's a different experience every time you go to shop. Every cashier seems to be different and you never know if they'll accept your coupons or not. It's irritating. I tried to get the razors, but the cashier said some lady came and took the last 10 packages. I hate that. Is it necessary to take 10 at once and not leave any for anyone else?

B1g1

It's supposed to be free because you buy one at $5.99 and get the second one free. This makes the price $5.99 for 2. Then they deduct the $3.00 store coupon for each one (IVC) = free.

I thought I had heard before that we should hand the cashier the IVC coupons first and then Manufacturer's. Obviously in this case it doesn't work well.

If I had handed her the MF coupon (B1G1) first, she then could have refused to take the $3.00 IVC's. This same type of thing happened to me recently on a Pert deal.

CVS is not yet here in the Rio Grande Valley (and I know people have complaints about them as well) but I'm told they're coming and I can't wait. Walgreens will get MUCH less of my business.

I always try to leave at least one or two - unless there are only that many to begin with.

I am making baskets for Christmas - and I bought 8 of the razors on Sunday. They had 2 of the regular left and many of the sensitive - which were ringing up wrong, but the manager said they should be included and gave them to me for $5.99.

I personally don't like when people come in and wipe out the entire stock. Please leave some for the rest of us, if you can!

Thank You now i get it!!!

ok thanx for spelling that out for me. i knew i was just overlooking it, but after you explained it, it was perfectly clear. but like fultimers says, the store could also reject the IVC. hopefully when i go in and start using my coupons, i wont have as much resistance on my first try.

I called my local homeland store today, and found out with my homeland one discount card, they double coupons up to $1.00, but they don't accept multiple coupons on like items. I am glad I called first before I got there and tried to do it. I've read on the site where some shoppers have stores that allow you to use multiple coupons on the same item, so I will just keep checking around since this is still new for me.

I had no idea these were on sale this week, I bought quite a few and all rang up at $8.29!! I would go back and complain but I don't want them to sigh when I walk in the door, I've already had to have the manager called so many times (never my fault), things just always ring up incorrectly for me. Oh well, next time I'll pay more attention!

me too!!

I swear when I started reading the first post I had to make sure I hadn't posted it. I had almost exactly the same problem, even with the Halloween candy. But, the best part of mine was when the manager tried to tell me that the razors were ringing up $8.29 because of the coupons. As politely as I could I had to ask, "So, the register doesn't decide what the price of an item is until it knows if you have coupons?" She said "Yes." I really couldn't even say anything to that I mean wth ??? She did finally do a price override to $5.99, but I had never heard anything that crazy in my life.
