1. 3 TBS Dawn regular dish liquid
2. 2/3 cup of water

Put both ingredients in original DAWN DIRECT FOAM bottle. Gently turn bottle over several times but do not shake. I usually double this recipe to fill my bottle. I am sure it can be done with the other brands as well! Good luck!!

We also make our own hand sanitizer, but I have fallen in LOVE with the foamy stuff! We are working on a recipe for that, but don't have it perfected yet! Will post when I get that one figured out........

what is special about the direct foam bottle...would this work in a regular pump bottle like a softsoap bottle?

No, it doesn't.....only reason I know is because I said why won't it work in this bottle?? But it doesn't and I'm not sure why. When I ask detailed, black & white, bottom line ??'s like that to my gray techno geek husband, I can get a 15 min speech with no punctuation! Needless to say, I'm lost in the first 20 words! It's just one of those things I accept. OK, it works in this one, but not in this one. Wish I could give you a better answer!!

Marbear, do you have a foaming Kandoo bottle? Or any other foaming hand soap bottle? I bet those would work too. I *think* those bottles have a special insert that pumps air into the soap making it foam (which I personally love-- it feels nicer than regular soap, IMO).

mpayne, I have an extra Dial one, if I had a reason to ship with other things to make it worth it, I'd ship it to you! I bought a dial 3 pack at CVS at the end of January 1/2 price with ECBs (awesome deal), so if this works with the Dial foaming pumps I am a happy girl!

I understand.......just save these bottles!! Like I said, DH & I normally make our own hand sanitizer and we are working on getting the right formula to do the foamy stuff........I love foamy stuff!

I just did this and it works great. I knew there was an older post somewhere so I thanked both of you guys and am bumping it up since it took me so long to find. The Direct Foam I bought to get the rebate (and they DENIED) just became empty.

Sorry, Linz....I just now saw this!! We use 2 parts of aloe vera gel to 1 part green alcohol. You can use less alcohol if your hands are very dry, but then you do lose the antibacterial value! I'd rather have dry hands!

Has anyone had any luck doing this with other brands of detergent? I've tried twice now with Palmolive and it just doesn't turn out right. (Won't foam, gets gloppy, stuck in pump.) Does the regular Dawn make a difference?

Have you tried putting the soap and water in a cup, gently stirring, and then pouring into the foamer bottle? I have to do that sometimes.

Hey - thanks so much for the Foaming soap and hand sanitizer recipes! I'm excited to try them both! Going on a cruise in February - so the hand sanitizer will come in really handy when traveling off the ship to our ports.
