My husband and our wedding anniversary is August 8th and I want to make it special. He is in the army and so he has only been home about half of those and last year he was in Iraq as well and with the stresses of just everyday life romance has kind of gone on the way side so I want to have a nice romantic, special day/evening. The 8th this year is on a monday so we may celebrate on the weekend. Idk yet. My ideal romantic day/evening would be this: I surprise him with a picnic on the water with cheeses and wine and then get a nice hotel room locally at a with a view of the water near the city. However you can see that there are obvious things that would just be not be possible as I have not been working now for a year so we are struggling on just the one income with the bills. In the military we truly live paycheck to paycheck. So if you have any ideas please let me know! I still want to surprise him with a picnic however the wine and cheeses won't likely be happening.... I guess I could get cheap wine or something... I would also like to have a reason to dress up because I don't tend to get dolled up anymore. I was thinking I could try to find a sundress or something from a thrift store... idk any ideas for me would be great and ideas too on something romantic / tastes expensive but is inexpensive to make to take on a picnic setting would be so appreciated!!! |

In terms of ideas, I guess it might be good to know what kind of $ you have to work with? If you don't mind sharing...

I am willing to splurge just a little bit for this day but 100 bucks is my ultimate max... We have been not doing anything for ourselves .. in a long time because of the stupid money situation. I would like us for once to have a good night or day without worrying about cash.

Try one of the restaurant.com deals. You can get a gc to use for a nice place. They have great deals at sometimes 80% of the card value

You could try groupon.com and see what they have in your area. If you stay somewhere on a weekday night it's usually a lot cheaper than a weekend stay.
