The family I donated to was forced to leave with nothing but the shirts on their backs. Short story: A mother had suffered years of severe abuse from her husband but was way too scared to leave. Finally, she made it out with the children but had to leave with nothing and I do mean nothing.

We recently downsized, therefore we had beds, a toaster oven, and a kitchen table in storage along with an extra fridge that we took them. Here are some disposable items (she requested) from my donation trip below (took more than she requested but these items were basically free and there's nothing like sharing FREE):

ETA - I look at your list and think about how much each one of those things means to that family. Like the Band-Aids were probably free or nearly free for you. But if you had nothing and your kid needed a band-aid, you'd be stuck walking into a store and paying $2+ for store brand band-aids b/c you couldn't wait for the sale. If you have nothing, $2 is a lot to spend on something that is not food. Even the Miracle Whip and sugar. Neither one is going to make a meal every day, but together that's probably $4 more that person has to spend on other things to help make a meal. With that $4 they can buy a meat and a veggie.

Curious - how did you find this family?
I'd say that they were lucky to find you, but as someone else who gives one-to-one (but not this big - I have no spare furniture or major household appliances!), I know how deeply satisfying and just plain old fun it is to do this.

If only this world would have more neighbors like you! We are truely blessed to have someone like you and your family in these times of need. I know and I can see their faces b/c I also have helped family similar case and I tell you the children never, never forget you for this! As I have told them when one window closes our provider always opens another. The blessings that he has return back to me is far greater than I could ever expect. This is truely amazing and the joy you must feel down in your heart is just wonderful!!!!

I found them from a volunteer at a non-profit organization. Can you believe the family wasn't even looking for any help, just a way to get out?

Here's some of the items we will be giving to the family tomorrow.

It was a super deal because we went to SC for BLOOM TRIPLES and spent like next to nothing! 1/2 of the items will be going to them and we will be giving the plates to the church (since our last trip of stockpile plates are still in overload at their house - LOL).

At least that's one less thing she will have to spend her hard-working money on.

Awesome thing for you to do and the Lord will bless you back many times for showing kindness to another when they were down on their luck and this is exactly what this family needs right now to find even more motivation to stay gone from their abuser..sometimes people return to an abusive situation because it becomes too hard for them to provide all of the necessities that they did not have to provide for themselves before..once they get situated maybe showing them how to coupon would be an even greater blessing for that family!!
