And another care package ... this week's was quite big because I was able to include things from this morning's CVS run and she came in her car -- because I've alleviated so many necessities, she was able to put some gas in her car (which I strongly suspect is not insured, but whatever). She combined a trip in to her office, which is in the middle of moving, to pick up some of her things with a chance to take her 90% blind, diabetic, clinically depressed friend out for some air (will put up a separate thread on that shortly). Anyway, since she had her car, I piled everything into my granny cart and took it out to her... Bananas Plums Zucchini Mushrooms String beans Milk, 1 gal Eggs, 1 dozen Lasagna noodles 2 boxes of Kelloggs Duncan Hines brownie mix 10 packs of Wrigleys gum Eggo Bakeshop muffin top thingies Eggo Bakeshop apple pastry thingies Kraft BBQ sauce Herbal Essences Shampoo & Conditioner Tresemme hair spray 3-pack Dial soap Softsoap liquid soap 4 packs of Kotex pads, liners, tampons 1 bottle of Coppertone Nutrashield All the free schools supplies I could get my hands on at CVS (2 full bags): 4 packs of Bic/Papermate pens, 3 assignment pads, 2 5-subject notebooks, 2 3-subject notebooks, 4 1-subject notebooks, 1 bottle of glue, 2 rolls of tape, 3 3-ring vinyl binders, 6 folders. The second best part: out-of-pocket cost to me was $8. |

Thank you for continuing to update this thread w/your new lists. I'm picturing their cabinets and fridge getting filled up and their money being more able to fill in the gaps every time. Like you said with the gas. Everything you give them makes it easier for them to purchase gas, pay for utilities, etc. Even small things like gum are just nice to have and a $1.50 impulse purchase for most people.

You've done a great and selfless deed. There are so many needy families in this tough economic time. It really doesn't matter if we live in a big city or a small town......times are tough. Just so you all know -- I haven't donated to this family for over 2 months now because their circumstances have improved enough that they don't need my help. The mom knows she is welcome to get in touch if things get tough again.
