Hello all,

Here is a break down of what I bought tonight.

1 Charmin $5.99
3 Bounty $16.47
5 Colgate Total $12.45
20 Soy Joys $20.00
1 Gold Emblem mints $.88
1 CVS Brand baby oil spray $1.99

Total: $57.78

Now here is where I messed up. I didn't have a calculator and the lead was falling out of my pencil so I totally screwed up on the math because I forgot to add up the Colgate coupons and I forgot to add in one of the Bounty's. But it is all good!

Q's used.

10/50 CRT
5 Colgate $7.50
4 $1/4 Soy Joy $4.00
4 $1.00 off Charmin/Bounty $4.00
1 CVS Skincare $2.00 (but adjusted down to 32 cents because of the above mentioned errors.

I gave $31.96 in ECB's. I gave them first to lower the tax.

Total OOP: 84 cents

AND I got back $40.00 ECB's.

It was the Bounty Basic. And when I got home I remembered I had a rain check for $4.99 on the Bounty Basic. LOL I could have saved another 50 cents! LOL

What do you mean? .....gave the ECB first to cut down on the tax? I usually give my Man Q's first and then ECB. Should I be doing it the other way around?

Yes, you should give the ecbs first before the man q because they reduce your taxable amt, a lesson I learned from CVS 101. If you have any $xx/$xx q in the mix, then your order would be $xx/xx, ecbs, then man q, hope this helps.

I haven't read CVS 101, but it shouldn't matter which order you give ECBs vs manu q's. You still pay sales tax on the value of your manu q's plus any remaining pre-tax amount after ecbs are given. The only way to reduce your sales tax is to reduce/eliminate manu q's which would mean using additional ecb's and why would you want to do that?
