Seriously, this is getting irritating!!!

I went today looking to get 6 boxes fo cereal for $20 - $9.9x in ECB, a few dollar off coupons and a few more depending on what they had in stock. Well..... I get there and they had a few boxes at 3/$9 and then a few more at 3/$10. They had on the tag underneath them that if you buy $20 worth that you'd get the $10 in ECBs. I was expecting them all at be 3/$10, so I wasn't expectign to have to do math in the store. I probably stood there for 15 minutes just trying to figure out how to get the most for my money, which coupons I needed to use and how much this was going to actually cost OOP. I get up to the counter with 7 boxes of cereal (because I didn't want 6 boxes of Honey nut cheerios and fruity cheerios, all they had for 3/$10) and my total is $5 oop. Hmmm. I check my receipt and all the boxes were 3/$10, none 3/$9. I went right back and explained the situation and the guy was really nice about it, but instead of returning everything and having to get my coupons back and figuring out the ECB thing, I just got $1.3x back for the boxes that were marked at 3/$9. It's not like $3.60 or whatever is bad for 7 boxes of cereal, no way! But if I would've re-done the entire order and done it the way I wanted to, I would've paid $2.25 oop for 6 boxes. It's amazing how this site has made me aware of my spending and made me extra stingy. I know if I told anyone else this story, they would look at me like I had 3 heads. Should I do anything else about it or just get over it? I suppose I could look at it from a different perspective, the the computer still has me paying $10 for 3 boxes since he did the refund on a calculator, and if I went back and bought 5 more boxes with coupons, it would mostly balance out. Sorry, now I;m rambling....

Anyway...this is what I did.

3 boxes Honey nut Cheerios (3/$10)
2 boxes Lucky Charms (marked 3/$9)
2 boxes Cinnamon Toast Crunch (marked 3/$9)

- $1 HN Cheerios coupon
- $1 HN Cheerios coupon
- $1 any 2 boxes
- .75 any 2 boxes
- .55 Cinnamon Toast crunch
- $4/$20
- $9.97 ECBs

Total oop after refund about $3.60 and $10.00 backs in ECB.

I hear what you're saying! The store I went to yesterday didn't have signs up on half of the cereal that was listed in the ad. I had Qs for Fruity Cheerios and Honey Nut, plus a couple for Total. I bought 6 boxes (2 of each). Should have come to $20 and do you think I got my ECB?? NOPE!! I checked the receipt and the Fr. Cheerios rang up $2.15 (and DIDN'T count toward my total). When I asked about it, the cashier said they were on clearance for 50% off, but there wasn't a sign and they were listed in the sale ad. What gives?? I kept them anyway--with the $2.15 and the Q it was a pretty good deal (not to mention my son made me open the box so he could eat some in the store!! LOL).

I just did the same thing. I complained that they never stock up enough on the items on sale. There was really only HoneyNut Cheerios and junk food cereals left. I caved and bought one box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch.....

Ashley, they had the same thing at my store!!! The Fruity cheerios were on Clearance for $2.15, but they still had the little sign next to that one that said 3/$10 with the little ECB thing underneath it. ??? Go figure, they make you take the clearance price when you don't want it and then won't give it to you when you do because it's "not supposed to be there." If the deals I get there weren't so good, I wouldn't go there EVER. I'm glad I didn't grab the Fruity Cheerios, I only didn't because we still have 2 boxes from a sale at the grocery store a few weeks ago. I think my mood would've taken a nose-dive if I would've had to go through that too. Thanks for the warning, BTW!

I had the same problem. I had cheerios marked 3 for $10 and 3 For $9. Of course they rang up at the 3 for $10. She price modified them and I got 7 Cheerios for $21 - $3 CVS coupon - $3 man coupons = $15 I had $15.66 in ECB's that needed to be used up so it worked out perfectly. My son grabbed a package of CVS candy and my total was .22. I was happy cause we needed Cheerios and paid $5 for 7 boxes!

It would of been $4, but I forgot my $4 off of $20 at home.

That's all they really had for us too, HN Cheerios, Fruity Cheerios, Lucky Charms and Cinnamon Toast Crunch. I was hoping they'd have more because I'd like some cereal that I would actualy like to eat. That and I have to keep the Lucky Charms hidden from the kids, otherwise they eat all the marshmallows out. Cinnamon Toast Crunch and Reese's Puffs are the only "sugar" cereal they get and most of the time they would prefer something with less sugar. I guess I lucked out. They really do need to stock up better on sale stuff. A nice endcap would've been nice!

Same thing here (both signs up) - but I assumed all were and was correct that all that I grabbed was 3/$10 6 boxes = $2.40 Quick in and out bargain!

I ended up bringing up both signs to the lady on Coon Rapids BLVD and she price adjusted the items to $3 each for me.

first of all, they had almost no choice of cereal...grrrr...so, it said buy 20.00 worth,
well, I wasn't thinking of the 3/10 (guess that is my fault) so i bought 20.00 worth going by the shelf price...grrr....and of course it actually added up to less. So, I had to find 2 more boxes of cereal today to finish the deal. They had found 2 more boxes of honey nut cheerios between yesterday and today, so I got those.
I did end up with 6 boxes of cereal, and one box of granola bars for 4.50 oop,
then got 2 more boxes of cereal today to get my 10 ecb back. I guess I shouldn't really complain about that.
I still wish my cvs had the coupons and scanners etc you all talk about.
Mine refilled all their little brochures and coupon books and not one had that 3/15.
In fact all the coupons inside are expired. grrrrr.

Tee hee, I had the opposite problem, would've LOVED some of that cinnamon toast crunch and lucky charms for the kiddos.... grrr.
