I hadn't thought about it that way. I did this today and the cahier wrote $9.98 on the coupon and I got both for free.

I think it's b/c they ring up for $9.98 each then they put in the coupon for $9.98 off one and after that the 2/$9.98 kicks off the extra $9.98???

I'm not sure, and I wasn't trying to misuse coupons by any means. I think it's the way they ring them up and they take off the coupon before the sale price kicks in. Not sure on this one...

I just did this deal and it does make them 2/4.98. Each rings up 1/2 price, not one full price and one free. Still a great deal!!

Perhaps they didn't have their ExtraCare card scanned at the beginning of the transaction. If that were done, each should ring up at full price & the discount will come off at the bottom of the receipt after they scan the card. It normally shows as CVS coupon on the bottom when I didn't have my card ready & they rang up sales items before scanning.

I haven't verified but I think this could be a valid reason......

At mine on the shelf tag it says 2/9.98 then in tiny print says 4.99 each. They aren't BOGO at mine.

Mine rang up as 4.99 each, then the cashier put the BOGOF coupon in as 8.99
(Why 8.99? IDK) so I got both for 0.99.

LorinLucy - That's kind of what happened to me except the cashier (really a manager) wrote "$9.98" on the coup and then put it through, so I got both for free. I guess the cashier made a mistake, but I honestly didn't know at the time that this was wrong or else I would have corrected her.

It was also my fav cashier at CVS so maybe she just put it through at full price??? She is a manager, so I don't think anyone will get in trouble.

Now I feel bad!

Kandikid82 - I feel your pain. It didn't dawn on me until I read this thread that my discount should have been 4.99. I'm hoping this doesn't cause trouble for this cashier as well.
