| CVS vs Walmart trip - Frustrated
So I went to CVS today to redeem coupons on items that I know I will use (Opti-free contact solution and Playtex) but I wanted to make sure I am saving money by going to CVS vs going to Walmart. So I visited WM right after my CVS trip. The contact solution was $.09 less at CVS BUT the Playtex was $2.02 less per box than CVS. My total savings at CVS with my coupons (coupons that I could have used at Walmart) was $19.50 BUT I could have saved $2.02 per box on the Playtex PLUS the $2 off each box so I didn't do well. I guess I will figure this out eventually where it actually helps my family. |

dont give up...I used to have that problem all the time. Have you ever thought of keeping a pricebook? I track most of my regulars prices at the 3 main stores I shop at. There are many free templates, I got mine from someone on here I think???? HTH Also Walmart price matches most ad prices.

Thanks ShoppingInHEELS! I won't give up. It is VERY frustrating b/c I lost money instead of saving it and used coupons. I plan to stop shopping at CVS unless if there is a great deal. I will focus on a few stores. Pricebook for each store??? |

I only really like cvs for makeup clearance and ECB deals. I tend to use target/walmart for the rest....

Ditto and Ditto. The everyday prices at CVS are usually at least 20% higher than at WalMart. When I shop at CVS it is for strategically planned items - and generally very few items. CVS is more of a long-term relationship, you'll reap the rewards in small increments over time. Walmart is usually better for your immediate needs. If you keep a price book or otherwise keep note of how much things cost in general, over time you'll get a good idea of what's a good deal and what's not so you'll be able to make better choices. Don't get discouraged, you will get better over time. |
