Thumbs up Using Visa Rebate Cards at CVS = Less Hassles

I just wanted to drop a quick note that CVS has a great processing system for credit cards unlike any other store in my area. If you have a Visa or Mastercard gift card, you don't need to know the remaining balance to use it at CVS. It automatically processes it for whatever is left even if it's only ten cents! Also, you can use multiples and pay for the remaining balance with a CVS gift card, cash, debit card, or whatever....

I happen to have an addiction to Staples Easy Rebates and they changed their payment from checks to instead sending a Visa Rebate card. It's only good for six months and then it starts charging a fee against any remaining balance...They're great to use on the small OOP trans, except that if it's only for $10 or $15, then after a couple of uses, you have no idea what balance is unless you keep checking it online. At other stores, if the total amount left isn't enough to cover the transaction, you have to know what's left so the cashier can enter it before you slide the card through. Otherwise it's just gets denied....so them I'm left with several cards with like $2 or less on them...ugh...then I found this weekend that CVS is not like that. Yay! So I just wanted to share the info with everyone else...I mean I wouldn't necessarily use like 10 different tiny balance cards in the same trans, but it's great to get rid of the last 31 cents without bothering a cashier....

HTH!

Good to know. I have always just bought a GC at whatever store (CVS, Target, etc) for the exact amount so that I didn't have to worry about losing out. Nice to know that CVS is looking out for me!

Thanks, ayenbe! I never thought about buying gift cards with them....I like that idea too! Then I wouldn't have to worry about them expiring. In CT, gift cards can't expire or have fees charged for inactivity...but these rebate card can exipre and have fees...I might do that if I go crazy with rebates on Black Friday....I can combine them all into one or two larger gift cards to my fav stores!

I'm the same way!! With cards that are store specific, I always use a permanent marker to write on the back how much is on the card....I know I'll forget!
