My CVS trip today

This is my first time doing this so I am still not very good at it.

I did the BOGO on the colgate products 2.99
Then used a $1 coupon making it a total of 2.23 for both items.

I went to a different CVS near work and did the same transaction...but they also had the great big bottle of Ajax dish liquid on sale for 1.50 and I had a .20 coupon so that transaction was just over 4.00.

I haven't figured out how to get ECB's yet and I still get kinda confused when reading posts.

Any suggestions?

It takes time to get use to all of the deals listed on AFC. Generally you start out slowly and every thing starts to click and you get better each time you shop. Read the ad and read the card at the store in front of the product. It will tell you how many to buy and get the ECB's and how many times you can do the deal.

You can do it! When you start off CVS'ing begin by purchasing a few items that will earn ECBs. This week there are some good money makers. Loreal pay 5.99 get back 5.99 ECB and Right Guard Sport, Extreme, Soft&Dry or Dry Idea Pay 2.99 get back 2.00 ECB. If you have coupons to match the product that would really help. Then you can roll over your ECB's and purchase other products that will earn more ECB's.

It really takes time. I've been doing this for some time now. Still hit myself in the head after I get home and I realize I could have used another coupon or a small value ecb to get a lower out of pocket or just pay nothing.

Yes, they are like CVS 'cash' ... we try to roll them over on other items that have ECB's that way you end up paying only by using their cash (ECB's)

It takes some time...hang in there and collect your coupons!!

Yes, ECB's are like cash - I'm sure there is a thread on the CVS forum that will explain it alot better for you. But, ECB's once earned are like cash (but can't be used on some things, like prescriptions, cigarettes, alcohol etc). You won't get money back if you don't use the whole ECB in the transactions - so for example, this week the Loreal is $5.99 get $5.99 ECB's. If you do this deal and get the ECB's and then do the Right Guard deal after - you can use the $5.99 ECB's but if your total only comes to $4.00, then you will lose $1.99 in ECB's. So you always want to try and get your total as close to your ECB's so you don't lose them. Once you really get into CVSing you will probably have a bunch of different ECB's for different amounts. That helps when paying for something because you can use multiple ECB's for a single transaction. Keep that in mind when buying something that has a high limit and giving ECB's. You may want to split them up into different transactions because they will all go on one ECB and add together. So, the colgate was giving $2.00 ECB's last week. If you bought 1 in a transaction you'd get $2.00, if you bought 2, you'd get $4.00 and if you bought 3 you'd get $6.00. If you get ECB's that are big, they are sometimes hard to use the whole thing. So just try and keep that in mind. Make sure to ask your CVS if they take expired ECB's. I know mine does so I don't worry about them expiring, but a lot of people's CVS does not, so you want to make sure you use them before they expire. Once you have enough ECB's you can start rolling them into something else that is giving ECB's!!! It's a lot of fun and you can get tons of stuff for cheap/free!!!! Good luck and we are all here to help and answer any questions. You won't believe the stuff your about to get for free!!!!
