sorry for being nosey-but what exactly is the deposit for? was it returnable bottles? do you get it back? I remember many, many moons ago when we had to pay deposits for coke bottles(gotta understand, I'm from Louisiana and every soft drink is a coke -when we ask if you want a coke and you say yes-we ask you what kind and then we rattle off the different brands we have)

I did not know it was still done-I see it on bottles and cans but never paid it much attention

Me too. Good news we were on vacation so it came in handy. Kids loved being able to drink sodas. I don't let them drink too many normally.
