I have ordered them before and they are awesome! All the family I gave them to, rave about them. They come on a metal beaded chain, but I bought keychain loops to go with them as well. I added a beaded charm on the keychain. I was surprised how many men wore them as necklaces, sort of like dog tags. My father wears his with pictures of my kids with his real dog tags around his neck. So cute. IMO, for the price, they are a great deal and have so much potential.

My ideas for them:

-Dog I.D. tag: put a picture of your house on one side and a pic of the vital info (name, address, phone) on the other. Hook to a collar.

-A "Clean" on one side and "Dirty" on the other to hang from a suction cup on the dishwasher. Search scrapbooking sites for free fonts and pics. Alternatively a "Shhh, baby's sleeping" or "Welcome" sign to hang from a little hook on the front door.

-Upload a pic from the web of your child's favorite character and put thier name on one side and the pic on the other. (Think birthday party favors)

-Attach the tag to a clasp and use as a zipper pull on a child's jacket or backpack or your purse, etc. Add a few beads to the clasp for fun.

-Make a lovely window sill herb garden gift set. Take small (cheap) terra cotta pots and put different herb seed packets in a few pots. Take a picture of a mature plant to put on one side of the dog tag, with the name of the herb on the other. Trim the beaded chain so that it fits snugly around the lip of the pot and present on a pretty tray with a pair of garden gloves or petite pair of scissors (see the freebie forum for free scissors.)

-For extra special Christmas/Birthday gift tags: put the recipient's photo on one side and your name or photo on the other. Take off the metal chain and slip some ribbon through the hole in the tag to wrap.

-Take a few suggestive photos of yourself and have them put on a dog tag for your lover/spouse. Slip into an envelope marked "Top Secret: For your eyes only" and see what happens!

I made several dogtags the last time Artscow had the 99¢ offer. I put a photo of my husband and me on one side and our n&a&tel on the other. My husband has been wearing his- surprised the heck of out me! I had ordered them to use on backpacks and suitcases when we travel. (I have noticed that when we go through the luggage pick up area, if there is a person checking the luggage tag numbers, they let us go when we flash our photo on the bags rather then digging for the bag number stubs.)
I have been wearing mine for several months now and the tag is in great condition. I do take it off before swimming. When I walk in the mornings, I do not carry a wallet with me so atleast I have ID on my body. The hardest part is figuring out how to do the name and address in "paint".

To tell you the truth, I have been delighted with all of Artscow's products. I have ordered probably 15 books by now, coasters- both the foam kind and the ceramic kinds, dogtags, prints, and a clock. I think that is all!

Ah! The first book does take forever but it gets easier every time. I just finished the one I did this morning--maybe 3 hours which included time to look up some facts that I wanted to write in the book- like which century an art piece is from, the name of a lounge we went to- , letting the cat out, getting the mail...even so, I still finished in 3 hours. This is my 21st book!!!

I also ordered a $14.99 canvas- this was my first one of those. I have spent an enormous amount of money with them!!! Too funny. it has become my newest hobby. I have found the books a handy format for trip photos. We just came back from China and NO ONE would want to see 1500 photos--not even my husband has seen them all.

So, because of all the bonus credits Artscow gives, I have gone back and redone trips from the past 5 years-

You will love your book. The hardest part will be waiting for the postman to ring. It takes about 3 weeks.

You know, if your budget allows you might want to make two copies of each book. One for now--kids love looking at themselves-- and one for the future when the girls are grown and marry or whenever they fly off into the world. I have two pictures from my childhood.

I went to the site for the dog tags but couldn't figure out how to put the writing or information I wanted on to the tag. Can you help me here. I see a place for file and then a place for photo but no where for what I want on the tag.

there is a place towards the left upper corner - actually more in the middle - that says text. this will add a text box - you can change the size of the box, font, font size, font color. hth
