I'm just starting mine driven by all the uncertainty in the world (political and mother nature). So far it has been mfg coupons combined with a sale and 10 for 10 type of deals, or free with rebate stuff mostly and so it all fits in a cabinet. Thinking of building a FIFO can storage under a open cabinet to handle cans in less space. With the recent cereal purchase I am thinking I am going to need more space and it won't be in the kitchen. I get to spend this weekend salmon fishing with 5 others for half price my biggest single savings to date $267 woot woot! I got exited when the news mentioned another email site called dealchicken.com so I had to hurry and sign up. With all of the on-line and print deals why pay full price...right? Do any of you fellow flatlanders have the mega TV style stockpiles? I really like seeing people get good deals these days. Thanks, Bill. |

Bill, Don't I wish I had a pantry loaded like the TV-style stockpiles! A dream and that is about it. I am not sure that what I do is stockpiling. Both hubby and I are out of work and not even getting responses back on resumes or applications submitted - very depressing. Add to that, it is not just hubby and I, we also have had my parents move in with us. We now have dietary requirements as well as personal care issues that we have not seen before. With that said, using coupons helps me spread our grocery dollars. If I can buy products on sale and then use a coupon that drops the price that much more, I am dancing. So if I can get the savings, then I can stock up on additional items which is a hedge against the increasing prices that seem to be happening at an every increasing pace. I also feel that it is also more costly to buy prepared foods versus cooking from scratch and having those ingredients in the pantry. However, it seems that coupons for those items are available much less frequently than the prepared foods which makes it really hard to 'stockpile' as you have inquired about. At least going into the holidays, we should be seeing more coupons for those basic items and see them on sale more frequently. |
