My favorite CVS raised their price of the Sunday paper so I was wondering if anyone knew of any dollar stores that sell it for 1.00???

The Dollar Tree here in Baltimore sells the Sun for $1. You could call whatever one is in your area and ask.

I know the dollar trees in my area stopped selling them about a year ago. I thought I heard that the Star Trib wasn't selling it to them for a cheap enough price anymore.

Pick up the early sunday edition at a grocery store or gas station. You will want to poke through it first, but a lot of the time they have all the coups that are in the sunday papwer and they only cost 75 cents.

I don't know why the Strib costs $1.75 while the Pioneer Press is only $1.00 anywhere, and they are very comparable. This week it was worth it because there were 4 inserts, and they were slightly different between the two papers. Most weeks the money would be better spent on additional copies of the PP.

I noticed the price jump too right around Christmas. I don't think we have an option to get them cheap anywhere except maybe finding an early Sunday with all the inserts.

I've found that it's priced differently depending upon the county in which it's purchased. I live near the border of Dakota & Ramsey counties. In Dakota it's $1.00. A block away in Ramsey, it's $1.75.

any of you MN gals willing to pick up an extra paper (I would pay the shipping for the coupons and the cost of the paper via pp) If you wanted I could send a WL envie of coupons too. OR if you wanted I would pick up an extra paper here and send to you each week (we would each pay our own shipping).

I just got 5 of the Saturday/Early Sunday at the gas station my boyfriend works at. 75¢ each and all the inserts were inside. Not to mention I got his discount so that took them down to like 67¢ cents each...but even at normal price, 75¢ is way better than $1.75 on Sunday!

I have noticed too that it depends on the county. I live north, but often visit family. When I make it to Forest Lake, the Washington County early edition at WM and Rainbow (so sold Saturday) is actually only $.50 !!!!! The next County up, where MIL lives, it's $1.00. When I'm in the area, I usually pick up two or three to add to the Star Trib sub I have sent to her house. It's SO worth it!!!! The coupons up here just don't compare to the ones distributed in the cities.

I'm a newbie at this so forgive the potentially dumb question:

It sounds like the early edition sold Saturday contains the coupon inserts - is this particular paper available for purchase all day on Saturdays or is it released later Saturday evenings?

I believe it is the only Saturday edition that the Star-Trib puts out on newsstands. If you get the paper delivered to your house, you still get a "regular" Saturday paper w/out the inserts. But everything on the newsstands Saturday is the Sunday early edition.

Forest Lake sells the early edition Sunday paper for .50. If you drive 10 minutes south to Lino Lakes it will cost you .75. If you drive another 10 min. to Roseville you can find the early edition at Cub (by Harmar) and Walgreens (by Byerlys) for .50.

IIRC, It is actually an early Sunday edition (says Early Sunday on the top of the papedr). The papers are NOT the same as the regular Sunday paper will be (smaller, less content and not very many ads). The only ads I usually find are Cub, Rainbow and Fleet Farm . The coupon inserts are generally included. There is a seperate Saturday edition for sale as well, no coupon inserts.

Yeah, I was totally bummed when they stopped letting Dollar Tree sell them. And when they moved to the Sunday Early Edition on Saturdays, I still don't get all the inserts on Saturdays. Most notably, the Red Plum's I never get on Saturdays. But I did sign up for the Star Tribune Express, which is free (not sure if you can sign up anymore) and it has all the inserts (just not all the ads - Target is never in there).

It has been getting better and better with all the inserts being in the Saturday paper, but I have noticed it is usually Red Plum or P&G that I have a hard time finding in the Saturday paper.

This just reminds me that I need to go through the recycling in my townhome community We have a small, dinky little recycling box that barely anyone uses, but I can usually score a couple inserts.

Last weekend I bought a Pioneer Press and a Star Tribune and the inserts are NOT the same. They both had the inserts in them but the ones in the Pioneer Press didn't have nearly as many coupons as the ones in the Star Tribune. I was a little upset about this....I think I'd rather just spend the extra .75 to get more coupons.

If you buy the Sunday early edition of the Star-Trib, it is cheaper than the PP Sunday .75 (where I live) vs. $1, so I usually buy all my "extras" on Saturday and then just one on Sunday so I have a Target ad and a few of the others that are not in the early edition Sunday Star-Trib. Just make sure you check the papers on the newsstands before you buy them because there is some weeks you will not see a Red Plum or a P&G and then it might not be worth buying them until Sunday depending on which coupons you are looking to get extras of.

There used to be a coupon code floating around for the Start Tribune Sunday edition that would get it delivered to your house for $1/wk for 1 year, but I can't remember the code. Does anybody know it? TIA
