Commissary Free/Cheap/Overage ~ September 2012

Commissary Free/Cheap/Overage Thread

Here is a Current list of all the coupon matchups we have found in the Commissary. Keep in mind not all people have the same coupons, IPs come and go quickly, and that prices can always change.

I try very hard to ensure the coupons are correctly matched to the product size/type, so please let me know if one is incorrectly matched!! Also, remember to always follow coupon restrictions

If you have questions of Policy go here - DeCa Coupon Policy and Other Policy Details, and if you want to better understand these sale go here - A Guide to Commissary Sales and Sale Cycles

*Remember there is a 5% surcharge at the Commissary on all items, and is on the pre-coupon price, so overage and free still has the surcharge tacked on

The number under the matchups is the date the sale is expected to end. The are always subject to change though.

If you share these deals anywhere please give proper credit. Thanks!

I know everyone is getting paid today or tomorrow so I've put together the September list early.

One small change this month - I have put the date that the sale is expected to end underneath the deal. Hopefully this will help you to know if you can order coupons or whatever.

Thanks!

Thanks so much! I have a question and it might have been answered before but I can't find it.. when you put your spreadsheet together, do you include matchups that all of us report to you or do you just include the sales based off the sale prices listed online and deals you see yourself? That might be a dumb question but sometimes I think I saw a matchup listed and then i can't find it on the spreadsheet.

Well its a little of both. If I can confirm a deal I will add it. I always leave out anything that I suspect is regional (soda, clearance, etc). Also I need to confirm that the price doesn't chance on the 1st. So, few of the deals posted in the August thread are currently added to the Sept thread until I can get to the Commissary after the first and confirm the price didn't jump (or that the coupon expired, or the IP is no longer avail). So usually a few days after the first I add more to the list. Hope that makes sense.

I forgot to add that there is also a delay with getting the OP updated, so always look in the thread for any of the latest deals. Being a mom of four, working full time from home, finishing unpacking from our PCS and going to school, I'm left with little time. So always assume there are more deals in the thread besides those in the first post.

It's a regional sale so basically when they run out of stock. Only a few stores have it going on.

Thank You

Getting the OP updated? I have seen that before but I'm not sure what that means. Does that mean getting the new thread approved? You definitely have your hands full! And we all appreciate all the work you do for us

My cashier just told me they are going to have to start enforcing "1 per purchase" coupons according to DECA. Which they are translating as 1 per transaction...gonna have to contact DECA now...sigh.

My commissary doesn't carry the lunchables with smoothie, so I couldn't use those coupons

BUT I did see this:

Old El Paso Refried beans .75 - .50/2 (commy TP) = .50 each

Clif and Luna bars are .79 each right now!!

Lysol Power & Free toilet bowl cleaner 1.29 - $1/2 (8/19 SS) = .79 each

Lysol Power & Free bathroom wipes 1.99 - $1/2 (8/19 SS) = 1.49 each (these go good with the lysol wipes rebate )

Stayfree 2.68 - $2/1 (8/26 SS) = .68

Bob's Red Mill Gluten free brownies 3.29 - .55/1 (military coupon) = 2.74

Nestle 24 pack water .5L (16oz) 2.89 - $1/2 (7/29 RP) = 2.39 each

Del Monte Fruit Cups 1.69 - $1/2 (8/12 RP) = 1.19 each

Minute Rice cups 1.50 - $1/2 (printed inside their package) = $1 each

Kashi bars $2.50 - $1/1 (booklet) = $1.50

Kashi cereals (various) $2.50 - $1/1 (booklet) = $1.50

Kettle chips $1.99 - $1/2 (couponnetwork.com) = 1.49 each

Starbucks refreshers $1.59 - $1/1 (TP or IP - no longer available) = .59

Capri Sun 10 pk 1.69 - $1/1 (IP coupons.com) = .69

Silk 2.79 - .75/1 (their website) = 2.04

Danimals 2.05 - .75/1 (8/26 SS) = 1.30 each

Wholly Guacamole 100 calorie packs 2.29 - $1.50/1 (8/26 SS) (this is one per transaction per coupon) = .79 each

Totinos .99 - $1/5 (IP coupons.com) = .79 each

Morningstar (vairous) 2.50 - .75/1 (military health booklet) = 1.75

Morningstar (various) 3.18 - .75/1 = 2.43

Cadbury Novelty 2.79 - $1/1 (Ip coupons.com) = 1.79

I'm so glad the cashiers @ my commy are coupon friendly. They ask right away if I have any coupons & if you have less than 10, they look at you like you're crazy. And if I'm buying something and dont have a coupon for it and they think there's a coupon for it in the store, they call customer service and ask. I always get the same 5 cashiers & they're wonderful

My cashiers have always been great. And so has the commy in general. My cashier said she would take all my coupons this time, but next time I need to be prepared...

I'm wondering if either she or the management has misunderstood what DECA is talking about...that is the only thing I can think of... :/

I think she and/or management is just misunderstanding DECA's coupon policy. You could call your commy's manager and talk w/ them about it. In fact, if I were you, I would definitely call and talk to a manager about it. If the manager also indicates u can only use 1 coupon per transaction (or indicates thats how its going to be in the near future) then you need to contact DECA and let them know whats going on. DECA's coupon policy clearly states that one coupon can be used for each item (not in those exact words, of course). And be sure to take a copy of DECA's coupon policy with u when you go shopping. A lot of cashiers (and managenent personnel for that matter) dont understand the difference between per purchase and per transaction. I hope you get clarification soon. HTH

That is probably a good place to start. I pulled up the DECA policy, but which part should I be focusing on in the explanation if they just don't "get it"? I want to stay calm, cool, and collected like I did with the cashier and not get irritated...just in case they back the cashier up!

Some references for you:

Coupon Policy (see Ch 7):

Updated added to the policy effective May 1st:

About 4 in a transaction (may be of some help?):
https://www.facebook.com/notes/defen...06068556115108

Ironically nowhere in there does it clarify purchase, transaction, shopping trip
...

This was previously clarified by DeCA and this was the email response:

Thank you for accessing the DeCA website to address your concerns.

After contacting several manufacturers for clarification of their intent,
they all stated that "Limit one offer per coupon per person per purchase"
means one coupon may be used for each item purchased. Therefore, if you
have 2 identical coupons and are purchasing 2 identical items, both coupons
should be accepted.

Commissary management, in cooperation with the Installation Commander, may, however, restrict the number of transactions per customer. As a matter of policy, sales restrictions limiting amount per purchase, e.g., limit three,
may be activated by DeCA Headquarters, the Federal Food and Drug
Administration, The Department of Defense, or command channels when product food alerts occur, or in instances when a sales transaction involves
purchases of large quantities of a single item, or when refunds or coupon
redemption involves a large amount of money. As with all types of retail
establishments where the exchange of goods, services, and money is involved, DeCA store management is required to monitor activity that may be perceived as potential abuse of the commissary privilege.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to clarify this issue. I encourage
you to continue taking advantage of your commissary benefit and the 30
percent plus overall savings. If you need assistance in the future, please
do not hesitate to contact Mr. Art Lehman, Ft. Bragg South Store Director,
or any member of his management staff, at (910) 436-2487.

oh wow! Thank you for all of that info! I am going to look over this and then probably call the manager and see what they are thinking about what I was told.

What commissary were you having this issue at? I fought the same battle at Seymour Johnson afb about a week ago. I had to put back like half the items in my cart.

oh I'm so sorry about that! I can imagine your frustration!! I didn't have to do that at my commissary, but I did have to once at Kroger when they changed their policy about doubling out of the blue!

I am at the Ft. Worth Commissary in TX

I did call and speak to the store manager. He told me I was correct, and he would let the cashiers' managers know about the misunderstanding so they can understand coupon jargon. He asked for the cashier's name, and I told him, I feel bad! I hope she doesn't get in trouble. I told him over and over that she was really polite about it. :/
