Made a trip to the commissary tonight and got and noticed some nice deals I'd like to share. If a repeat, I'm sorry.

Chex Mix @$.90 cents each - $1 IP. Noticed that Kashi soft baked cereal bars are JUST $2.09 each!! Of course I got more free Marcal before the coupons expired... and the pudding was $1 off when you buy Vanilla Wafers... so just $1.79. $.32 for Toaster Strudel. $.49 cents for the Lysol Wipes. KY @ $1.84 each for the overage.

The Nabisco Rep. was in the aisle where I was getting the Teddy Grahams for my son and overheard me mention to my son about not having the Q's for the Kashi. He says, I got a deal for you... if you buy 3 of the Wheat Thins, I'll give them to you for $.89 cents each. I said sure... as I love wheat thins. Picked out my flavors and he handed me 3 $1 off Q's... so just $.89 cents each. Yippeee!

Anyway, everything you see cost me only $24.01. I saved $59.50 for a total savings of 74%.

I'm not the OP, but MC OP is when they count the same q's and enter them in one amount (ie..she had 4 $1 off coupons that were the same). They scan one coupon and then enter the amount. HTH.

That's right. As I stated in my other threads... my commissary usually does this, but not always. They will enter the amount of Q's there are and scan just one and take off the lump sum. Like the first one for $21 was 7 of the $3 KY coupons and so on.

OK... printed more coupons and headed back to the commissary again today, 1-31-09. Need cat litter so used the remaining KY Q's for the overage and got 3 cat litters for free and still had $1.61 overage from the KY.

KY $1.84 -$3 MQ = Free with $1.16 overage on each = $13.92 overage left
Kashi Cereal Bars $2.09 -$2 IP = $.09 each
Toaster Strudel $1.39 -$1 IP = $.39 each
Chex Mix $.90 -$1 IP = $.10 overage on each = $.40 overage left
Tidy Cats Litter $5.49 -$1 MQ = $4.49
Cat's Pride Litter $4.64 each - 2x$1 IP = $3.64 each
No Q's for the brush heads, Daisy Sour Cream or Otis Spunkmeyer Muffins.

Total OOP: $11.86 ($8.53 + $3.33 surcharge)
Total Savings: $58.00 with 28 coupons for a savings of 87%!!

sorry for all the questions i'm definitely a newbie...so your commissary lets you use more than one coupon per item?? Like say you have 3 $3 coupons for KY you could save $9 on one bottle of KY? I'm really confused sorry...because my commissary only lets me use ONE coupon PER item...is that not right or am i just cnofused??

No. You can only use one coupon per item. If I have 3 $3 KY coupons... I must have 3 KY items. I do get overage at my commissary though. My KY costs $1.84... so for each one I buy, I'm getting $1.16 overage to use towards other purchases. Like above, I bought 12 KY and used the overage to pay for the 3 containers of Cat Litter. Hope that explains it better.

That does make sense. Maybe our KY is just crazy expensive or i'm looking at teh wrong place. I'll drop hubby off at work after his lunch break and make a trip up there with the KY i suppose. I'm really determined to get this stockpliing thing started and i'm super agitated with myself that it's taking me so long to figure it out. *sigh* i guess i should be patient

Relax.....my best advice is to be patient. You will learn. Ask lots of questions. Someone here will answer your question. It takes a little time to get started and become confident in yourself. You can do it. Do NOT give up. It will save you tons of money esp. that you have access to one of the world's best grocery stores-----the commissary.

I've been couponing for years... just not a serious couponer like I've learned to be here. It'll happen, just give it time. Also, your commissary may or may not do overage... don't ever expect it... but be happy when it happens. Good luck to you!

Not sure what size your commissary is, but one of the smaller ones here does not carry the $1.84 K-Y. Might want to check the stickers carefully. It could be that they are out. I have passed over it before because I didn't actually see the K-Y on the shelf.
