Not a commissary question a UPS question

Sorry but I figured this is the best place to ask this.

Anyone know if UPS gives a military discount and if so, how much? I have a HUGE, heavy box to send to my mom of a bunch of toiletries and cleaning supplies I've gotten and I'm dreading sending it because shipping prices are so outrageous.

Anyone know the cheapest way to send a huge, heavy box from MD to CA? TIA!

UPS is probably not your cheapest bet, I have never heard of them giving a mil deisc, but it couldn't hurt to ask. It might be cheaper to us USPS flat rate boxes, even if you had to send more than one box, it still might be cheaper. Have you checked with DHL too? I know Fed Ex is waay to expensive.

Bellas do they keep big boxes at the post office? I have only seen their little flat-rate boxes there, but maybe theyre in the back?

Send it UPS ground. It will be pretty cheap and it might take a week to get there but the price will be really good.

the post office will beat any price you can find. Priority mail is your friend here. Look for a flat rate box or several if you can.

The heavier one package is for UPS (or any service for that matter) the more it will cost you. several small packages might be the way to go.

Look into flat rate priority for sure. They are reliable, I used to use them all the time for my business.

I agree with nvmikey, I ship a lot of stuff and USPS is always the better deal, they only have two sizes of flat rate boxes, but I do believe you would still make out better if you sent a few of those rather than one big box. I sent my little sister a box UPS ground the size of a flat rate box, because I couldn't make it to the PO and it cost me $24 when I could have shipped it flat rate for $11.70!

I love the USPS flat rate boxes as well, but you might want to check with your local post office before sending anything liquid. The last time I sent someone part of my stockpile, they almost wouldn't accept the package because of the shampoo and conditioner.

I send shampoos and other stuff like that all the time not only in the states but to Iraq/Afghanistan, just tape the lids and surrounding areas with packing tape (never had one break yet) and already have the box taped up! They are only concerned with the liquids spilling so if you have that covered...

Good to know, I'll be sure to mention that the next time. Thanks!
