DH is at NNMC. No commissary. I know that the closest one is Walter Reed, but I've never been. I don't even know where it is.

I am in Silver Spring, MD, my husband bounces back and forth between Bethesda and Walter Reed. The commissary at walter reed (listed in pp) is ok, not as good as our last one, but I am there every week because groceries are outrageous in this area. Are you from here or new to the area?

We've been here for a year. We're in Germantown, so I usually just drive up to Frederick to the Super Walmart. I try to stay away from the beltway, which is why I haven't ventured out to Walter Reed yet.

DH is actually at Walter Reed for the month doing EMT classes.

Are you guys Navy then? My husband works at the Marine Liason centers at both hospitals and he's a patient. In fact he is having another surgery (hopefully) at the end of the month. I have driven to Frederick to go to Wal-Mart before (the one here is awful). But I too avoid the beltway if at all possible! There is another commissary at Fort Meade and I heard it's nice, but it's out near Columbia, MD and I have no idea how to get there, .

Yes, DH is a Navy Corpsman. He works in the ER usually.

We've been up to Columbia a few times. In fact, I took the boys up there 2 weeks ago for a Disney concert. It's an hour away from here. Closer to you. It's up the 95.

You know what... I think there's a commissary in Frederick, too. Yup. Just looked it up. There's one at Ft Detrick. Maybe I'll have to check it out.

Oh, and I hope things go well with his surgery.

You guys can try Andrews Air Force Base, Meade and there is a store on the DC side, I think it's called(don't quote me) Bolling. Meade is pretty good. If you don't want to drive straight 95, then take the GW Parkway. Oh and I think Aberdeen has a store also.
