I agree with you 100% I went to Meijers this week for the first time in a month and I cannot believe I thought Kroger was better. But is what helps me and Kroger is that their diary is always priced really well. I can sometimes get two gallons of milk for the price of one at Meijers. But Kroger has been sending out some really good coupons too.

around here i perfer kroger, and also the prices are really 50/50 some things are much cheaper at meijer but then some are so much more over priced at meijer. However most of the time I have a difficult time at Meijer, it's getting better but they are still rude... couponers slow down their lines. Kroger is usually more polite and they have a limited amount of rude people

Ok I dont mean to start anything..but expired food..how bad can it really be?
My grandmother made her own canned this that and the other 40years ago..we are still eating it and it is fine. The only ones that were not fine were the ones where the seal popped.

When in this day in age does everything need to expire. There are expiration dates on water for crying out loud. ITS WATER!

Personally I think the baby food would be fine, provided it is still sealed. Just my two cents on the subject.

I agree, I haven't seen any good sales at Meijer lately. Not that many at Kroger either.

I would imagine there's some leeway (sp?) with expirations dates...I mean a product can't be good to eat one day and expired and foul the next (I'm referring to canned goods, not dairy or meats).

Not only have the sales been suckey but everthing is going up in price!!! I stopped there after work today to grab some more creamer. I buy the 1/2 gallon coffeemate vanilla flavored (love my coffee) and it went up from $5.02 to $5.57! ouch!

I agree with you their prices are going through the roof, each week they are higher, but with only them and walmart to choose from I get a little from each. Watch the ads really close and only buy what I have coupons for. I buy a half a beef and a half a pig from a farmer each year and can and freeze everything I can get my hands on each summer, but even those are high this year....

Oldies but goodies.....

My grandma canned everything, too. When she died, my mom took all the canned goods. Every Thanksgiving, we open a jar of her famous bread and butter pickles. They are at least 20 years old, and I'm sure we'll be eating them as long as they can be stretched out! Oh, how I wish that there was some of her beet jelly left!!
