For anyone who hasn't seen the info on this deal, Meijer has (FINALLY) lowered the price (temporarily) on their enameled cast iron 3 and 5qt dutch ovens. The 5qt retails for $39.99 and is on PD for $19.99, while the 3qt retails for $29.99 and is on PD for $14.99. They come in many different colors. Good thru 7/29/12.

As silly as this might sound, I see people on Food Network cooking with these all the time, and I've always wanted one to make soups or chili or pot roasts or even casseroles! Well I can hardly contain my excitement right now because...

I FINALLY GOT ONE! Actually I didn't just get one. The deal was so good, I got TWO of them!! I'm so happy I could just burst! I have waited s.o. l.o.n.g. for these to come down to a price I wanted to pay for them. Not that I don't have the money to pay full price, but I'm extremely allergic to paying full price for anything. I have severe reactions, like breaking out in hives or even having full-on conniption fits.

If you were lucky enough, the Summer Bucks (that came out right on time) sweetened the deal. So funny that I said in my original post (not knowing the Summer Bucks were coming)...

Incidentally, I got a screamin' deal on IAMS dog food with the Summer Bucks, too. It was on sale for $16.99 (reg $17.99), and I combined a Manufacturer mPerk for $1, a Target coupon for $1, and a Summer Buck for $3 to pay $11.99 a bag for IAMS! Wooohooooo!

So who else got a dutch oven? What were some of your Summer Bucks scores??




JUST FYI: I read the terms on the Summer Bucks ever so carefully and they didn't forbid using it to buy pet food so I used one on each of two bags. Also scrutinized the terms for using the Summer Bucks in general and we weren't limited to using one per order or per customer but rather just one per item - at least that's what the cashier and I determined after reading what was printed on the Summer Buck itself. I'm super conscientious about following every rule to the letter, along with practicing good 'coupon courtesy' (not clearing shelf/not hoarding things just because they're free/etc.) because I WILL NOT give a store reason to restrict their usage of coupons even more.

Picked up the large pan in red last week with the summer bucks. I have finally taken it out of the box, petted it, and hidden it in a cupboard so no one can use it to make mac & cheese in (or anything else).

I'm so glad someone else got one and was able to take advantage of this good deal. I'm still just goo-gahh over this deal because I wanted this sooo bad but just wouldn't break down and pay full price.

I oogled all over these in the store but then decided to pass in order to stretch the budget a bit. I am still hoping to get a couple of the Wine colored ones on the 14th. On Saturday the 14th, with their Meijer Credit Card event, they will be:
5qt: 19.99 - 15% = 16.99
3qt: 14.99 - 15% = 12.74

Keep your fingers crossed for me for the 14th.

I most certainly will keep my fingers crossed AND say a prayer that you get one on the 14th. Even if you can't get it then, don't give up hope, sweetie. They're on PD for a few more weeks after that, and even without *any* added savings like Summer Bucks or others, it's still SUCH a good deal at the PD price.

I love the way you said you "oogled all over these". I know just what you mean, because I did, too! hehehe You've just GOT to get one, Char. They're so neat, and feel so good when you pet them (just ask countrygirl! hehehe).

I'm so obsessed with this pan, I'd buy it FOR you if it were any less! LOL

I got the yellow for 19.99, such a great deal. ( had too other colors were 39.99) Used with that easy bread dough and hope to find other things to cook in it. Never had one before, but love you can put in oven

That is WEIRD that the other colors were more. Did you try ringing them up, or was it that the sign just wasn't on the other colors? I used mine to make chuck roast & tonight I'm deep frying some things in it. Now what I need is one of those clip-on thermometers! I don't even know if Meijer sells them, but if they do... I'll have one by the end of the week! LOL

Am I crazy for wanting another one? LOL I already got the big AND the little one, but what if I need to cook with TWO big ones at the same time? I guess if that happened, I do have two tall 2-handled pots I could use. But they're not cast iron! I don't have enough room in my kitchen as it is (and embarrassingly enough, it's a large kitchen!).

What to do, what to do?

Incidentally, anybody who hasn't gotten one of these, SHOULD. They are truly amazing, and the price on them is just beyond fantastic! I'm starting to think Meijer should pay me a commission for every one of these I "sell". LOL But it's all the truth - I just can't say enough good things about them!

yes i did go to meijer on sat and i found a green 5 qt but then i choose a blue 3 qt they didnt have any small ones in green but i was so happy and then went through the line they charged me half price for the little one but full price for the big one so at customer servos they said the sale was only on the blue and yellow ones i was like what its color discrimination there were like 10 big green ones and no blue and only one big yellow back there i was so bummed i would have returned my green pot and got a yellow one then i was like i really love this color of green and so she called her boss and they said yes i could get my green one for the sale price talk about one happy camper yes i am happy thank you for finding this deal!
