Meijer doesn't take competitor coupons or price match anymore. The pharmacy might accept a Target pharmacy coupon though.

The Meijer coupon policy has changed to state:


• Meijer will accept coupons from major competitors in each store's trading area, for Grocery and or for Health and Beauty Care items

Translation: The major competitors MUST be in the same market (city) as your store. The competitors coupon must have a specific item and value printed on it.

• Meijer will accept coupons from major competitors in each store's trading area for General Merchandise items only if the competitor's price point is included. The item must be the identical item on the coupon for the match to occur.

• Meijer does not accept competitor coupons for beer, wine, liquor, cigarettes, double and triple coupons, clearance, percent off, total trans- action discounts, special promotions, gift card promotions, limited quantity items, mail-in rebate offers, and going out of business sales


So Meijer should accept the Target coupons if you have a Target that is local to you. I am also starting to see that this part of the coupon policy varies with your market! My suggestion...take a copy of the coupon policy with you when you are making your purchases using competitors coupons.

Be sure to ask if your store is viewing competitor coupons as store coupons or manufacturer coupons. Regardless of the wording on the Target coupons, some stores are not allowing them to be stacked with MQ's. Can you say YMMV times ten? !

I know you $#@&%#$s are going to clear the shelves anyway, so I might as well save you some money . Last week, I received Spartan coupons with my Family Fare/D-n-Dub inserts; looks exactly like these online coupns:

If your Meijer has a favorable coupon policy, one could use the $1.50/1 MQ and the $1/1 Spartan Q and score Smart Balance 1/2 gallons for 9 cents each.

Also, the Spartan coupon is coded as an MQ even though it says Spartan coupon and there are lots of stipulations in the fine print so good luck. I know my Meijer will laugh at me, pour green slime on my head and give me a wedgie if I tried this.

These Spartan folks is pretty smarts on coding their store coupons as MQs:

1. No extra work involved to code store coupons; the POS will recognize these automatically.

2. Because they are MQ coded; they will attach to those specific items and if a real MQ is also used, it will beep stating 'not enough items purchased'.

3. (real techy) Most, if not all Spartan coupons are '000' coded in the family section of the bar code. Although this should allow any item from that coupon's manufacturer to be purchased, my local Spartan store always beeps on '000' coupons.

Hats off to you Spartan you coupon unfriendly bastages.

I have successfully used my Walgreens register rewards at Meijer since the coupon policy change! Love it!

I read a great tip for green onions- cut them and put them in a clean pop bottle with a lid (or I use a Parmesan cheese container), freeze and then just shake out what you need. This makes them last A LOT longer as green onion go bad very quickly in the fridge.
