I have been super stockpiling Morningstar Q's, the save .75/1 ones that expire 10/31. I have not seen Meijer's put these on sale in months... did I just totally miss a sale or does anyone know in the upcoming weeks if these are on sale before they expire? |

Crosses fingers for a sale next week ... the last 3 times we bought them it was gasp with no sale and no Q's... Morningstar is a big staple in our house... DH is the only one in house that routinely eats animal meat and even then it's certainly not with every meal. We use these a lot for base cooking recipes... esp. the black bean patties and really often in pasta and stew recipes.. |

No sales at Meijer in forever. This is my girlfriend's favorite fake burger so I have these as a top priority. The best deal recently was the $2/1 IP coupon and the Target sale at $2.99 a couple months back. They are now $3.3x everyday at Target. If you're in GR, the FamFare at Breton/44th has peelies (bigger than postcard size) for .75/1 (exp 12/31) 4 per page in the frozen food freezers (not the doors, the open ones). I picked up more than a few Saturday on a Wag's run. edit: FamilyFare is a Spartan owned store. I have checked some of the other Spartan owned stores in the area and found zip. edit2: Thinking back... It may have been $2/2 MQ and $1/2 TQ but that's neither here nor there as of now :-) Last edited by daclayman; 10-21-2009 at 06:16 PM. |

one of my faves is use 1 lb to 1.5 lb spag. noodles, 1 jar of prego 3 cheese, 3 black bean patties, .5 to 1 can of corn, sprinkle with pharm cheese when served and serve with cornmeal muffins (DD and I love it.. DH does not like this one ... says corn should not be placed with spag and is "weird tasting" ... just makes more for us Another fave is "chicken strip" ques. grilled and some mexican cheese..with the spicy "chicken patties" from boca Also tossed salad with the "chicken" cut in chunks and mandr. oranges and almonds and tiny slivers of apple, and occasionally apple ... is great! Can also do a blue cheese variation on this ... or you can use the spicy type chicken ones and balance out the flavors and go more greek with feta cheese and calamata olives etc. Also we use the mushroom ones a lot in Italian dishes... and the Pizza/basil kind of orange like tint of color to them.... ones (can't remember offical name) we use a lot crumbled up on pizza or in pastas or stews... we make a lot of pastas with different combos of veggies/cheeses and crumbled morning star patties. We also use the black bean patties crumbled up for taco salad a lot... .take 2lb of salad mix, .5 can to 1 can of "chilli ready" tomatos, 1/2 -1 can of refried beans, 2-3 cups of taco cheese, 2 green peppers, 2 to 3 tomatos, 1 small onion ... 2- black bean patty crumbles... serve with tort. chips... sometimes DH puts sour creme on it Also we use many of the patties crumbled up in mac and cheese and then add different veggies that match the flavoring of morning star.... often we won't use the mac and cheese packet but will just make the noodles and stir in a random bag of frozen shredded cheese a can of veggies or two and the matching flavor patty and add appropriate seasoning... might be Italian combo one night, Indian the next, mexican one night etc. you can really mess around with the different flavorings. We also will make homemade flour burritos and wrap up some morning star patties with a small amount of spinach, refried beans, cheese and salsa (and whatever veggies you want to toss in mix)... mix... fill burritos put seam side down ... cook for 15-20 mins at ~300 depending on oven.. remove.... place a tad less than 1/4 cup of shredded cheese per large wrapped burrito and 1 teaspoon of salsa on each burrito return to oven for 10-15 mins... remove.... serve on a bed of lettuce... also we batch cook these in sets of about 6-8 ... we have for dinner for two nights and the others we stack in gladware containers with a piece of wax paper between each burrito ... they freeze for months and make a quick lunch/dinner when you don't want to cook later down the road. Pretty much whatever you can use ground beef/chicken breasts/strips in ... you can subsitute morningstar patties... sometimes you just have to really play with the recipe and find flavor combos that match your meal... we used the seasoned "chicken" ones a few months back with a creamed alfredo, broc, red bell pepper pasta type recipe ...and all 5 adults we served ( all of whom are regular meat eaters) were saying how awesome it was and were about halfway through their meal when DH pointed out that I had actually made the dish with morning star... 4 of them continued to eat it and rave but one guy was like oh I thought it was different tasting... even though he was raving about it 30 secs before ... LOL People tend to get stuck in a eating rut and always make the same things and have some strong concepts often of what is good food but if you broaden your views there are so many different cultures food ...anyways ... we love to cook ... could talk about food forever!

| Thank you!!! I'm going to try some of these. On a different note - I just noticed that Kroger had these in an end cap freezer. The price said $3.49 but just wondering why it's in an end cap? Maybe a sale coming up next week? |

Do you have a Target near by? Target is less expensive for these than Meijer... I just discovered this, UGH! There are $2 off ones that were found in other stores that don't expire to the end of the year (or close to it )

Not sure if anyone has a winco by them, but they are $2.95 there. I have 1 child that will not eat chicken or pork. So i keep these on hand so that the nights we have chicken or pork, i can threw these in the microwave |

I'm at least hoping for a store Q to stack with. I have like 4 of the $2/1 Qs.

| Trade There were threads referring to them in August. Some stores had them...maybe Publix? Something we don't have around here.
