| Super Sale on Colgate Toothbrushes??? NOT!!! Is this bordering on FRAUD?
I have to say I was when I left Meijer this morning. I've since cooled down & am able to think more rationally .I bought 2 Colgate toothbrushes - the ones on the Saturday sale that say B1G1 free. $3.47 x 2 = 6.94 - the free Meijer one - $1.00 mfg coupon - $ .50 cent catalina coupon So my order should have come to $2.47 + tax for 2 toothbrushes. Well I ended up paying $3.47! I didn't catch it until my 4th transaction (I was separating out my order so that I could use the catalina coupons). The cashier punched it and I paid what I should have $2.47. Okay. But my 3 other orders I had overpaid. I went to customer service and was told that the coupon I used came off my 'free' toothbrush. WHAT? I explained in detail & the young man said that no, I could not use my coupon on the one I bought - it takes it off the free item. He said it doesn't matter if I use a coupon or not. I told him I am not happy and walked out. But now, I'm going to call corporate or someone in Meijer that can handle this. I know it's only a few dollars, but the idea that Meijer has a Buy 1, Get 1 FREE in their ad & then does not honor a coupon on the one bought is very misleading.. I'd say it is a form of FRAUD. Yup, they won't let you have money off the 'free' ones either, so you can't use two coupons. That was a recent change. They also only give you the 11th (from 10 for $10 w/ 11th free) as the cheapest one - so same thing, if you use a $0.50 or $1 coupon, then that is your 'free' item so they don't have to give you $1 off! I'm really pissed at Meijer at the moment. I agree, it is fraud to say you're going to give something free and then reduce the amount of your 'free' when you use a coupon. That means they're not giving you that amount off, but using the manufacturer's money instead. They'd better fix all these issues soon or they're going to start loosing a lot of business. I've basically switched to only going to Meijer for the Meijer deals and not doing the 'regular' weekly necessities there, they don't deserve that extra business from me1

They told you wrong, the coupon should have came off of the one you purchased. It is a form of fraud by not allowing you to use your coupon you purchased. Yes, you can't use 2 coupons if you got a B1G1 free item. I would definitely contact corporate in regards to your issue, b/c the customer service explained it incorrectly & should have credited you for the other transactions as well.

| Yes, I guess it is. I should have added something else to that order. The other orders I had other items mixed in so the catalina would have been applied to those items.

I had this same problem at the last 10/$10 sale. Of the 11 items I bought, I used 2 MB Qs and only 3 manf. Qs. My "free" item, that should have come off at $1 only came off for $.64. So...not the end of the world or anything but it was bugging me. The next time I went to Meijer, I happened to run right into one of our nicer store mgrs. I showed him my receipt and asked him if he could explain it all to me. He looked at it, kinda stumped, and said he would go to the service desk to get my refund. I said, "It's okay...I wasn't really complaining about the $.37...I just wanted to know why the free item wasn't free like it was advertised. It's happened more than once the last few months." He went on to explain that it shouldn't be that way, it's a glitch in the system and the computer is supposed to take off $1 whether you used a Q or not. He gave me $2 back in cash for my trouble and asked to keep my receipt so he could use it as an example when he called corp. about the issue. Who knows whether he did or not. It still happens at our store, so it's really not fixed. At least I got some money back for all the times it's happened. He told me anytime I have an issue like that to go to CS and get a refund. What a pain though! I LOVE Meijer...sure wish they'd get their crap together!!!

I had an annoying coupon issue on Saturday too. The Kleenex was .89 a box. I bought 3 boxes (the limit was 4) and used a .50 off three coupon. The system "doubled" the coupon to .89! I brought it to the attention of the cashier and after several minutes of discussion, she price adjusted. I REALLY do not like this new system. I'm all for price adjusting a doubled coupon if it is for 1 item, but when the coupon is for 3 items a .50 coupon should double to $1 if the total price of 3 is more than that.

i have been told that catalina's are manufactures coupons too. i fought with the manager at kroger the other day about this, he said it says manufacture on the top buy the expiration date right? i told him yes, he said it might have kroger printed on it but it is a manufacture q and that kroger mails them in the the manufacture and gets there money back
