| What ever happened to doing your job?
I made a rare trip to Meijer today and remembered why my trips are so rare. I went thru self scan, since I already know what a grumpy bunch the cashiers are at the store by me. My first transaction went thru, no problem. 5 cans of soup,and pepperidge bread. $5 catalina spit out. My other one was the remainder of my groceries and was fine until it came time to start scanning coupons. Darn machine beeped at nearly every q I had. None were even IP or over 50 cents. Everytime, I had to practically jump up and down to get one of the 3 attendants to notice. They were too busy chatting, texting, and waving at other employees. finally, I go to run a mealbox one, and the machine completely locked up. It took over 5 minutes to get their attn that time and then another(4th) is finally called over. Overall..it took 27 minutes between the end of the first transaction to the end of the the second. Tho not friendly, she was at least competent. She shut down the machine, got my coupons back out of the bin and took me to a regular register to ring me up. But no apologies, no smile, not even a $^%^ you have a nice day! And yes, I did write corporate. I'm lucky enough to have my choice of many different grocery stores. Unless they can give me some sort of satisfacion, Meijer gets one more trip so I can spend my onyo and I'm done with them. Its just not worth the frustration and rudeness. Thanks for letting me vent. That sucks! I love my Meijer. They let me get away with doing multiple transactions and everything. I still do normally hate cashiers, but at least it's not Walmart... Better luck next time. Maybe corporate will take your comments into account and you won't have to deal with them again.

I've had the self check out freeze up on me a couple times too. Once it froze up when I went to pay... I swiped my debit card and it froze... so they took me to another register... I was afraid that it was going to charge me twice, but I don't think it did... I should check my bank statement more closely now cause I forgot to before, this just reminded me... another time it froze up when I was buying produce that had to be weighed... the weighing function froze up. I hope they get some new equipment soon!

i had this happen to me this weekend at the self check out. I am sorry the cashiers were so rude. Hopefully you have a better trip next time.

Sorry for all the frustration! I locked up the uscan once at my Meijer and the CS manager shut it down, pulled out all our Qs, took us to a regular lane to do my 3 transactions, all the while being super curteous and friendly. She even gave us $5 off our first transaction for all our troubles. I wrote corp about this instance. I was blown away. I like our Meijer better than our Kroger.

This is the reason why I refuse to use u scan! I hate it taht the cashiers are rude and are not helpful! They do not even know thier own store's policy on coupons, and tend to make up thier own rules. I go so often that I now have my favorite cashiers. Even if going through an actual cashier may seem to take more time, it save me more time to stand in line and wait.

I see this this at my store alot. I us the u scan to and have learned how to enter my own coupons. The only problems I have are the MB coupons. I enter them in and states to wait for CS then in 30 seconds accepts the coupon but wait now, When I am ready to pay it tells me that CS has to approve my coupon?? WTH???? She comes over and tells me that all of the MB coupons do that.

I use the u scan to use my WAGS coupons that (so far) have not beeped. More coupons to use for the food.

Sounds like 14 mile. I admit, that I have been lucky, most of the ones I get don't get PO'd until about the 10th time it beeps. Another reason I go in during 3rd shift, they are bored and have nothing to do ! Best steve |

I do all my small amt mfr's that I know will go through without problems. Anything that is going to create an overage, the higher dollar cats and mb coupons I take right to the attendant. Easier on me when I don't have to wait on them each beep.

I had that happen once at WalMart and I've never used the self-check again. It locked up on me and wouldn't let the cashier over-ride. So then it got cancelled, the cashier came over to help me and we tried splitting into two transactions so there weren't as many q's, and it still locked up. Then cancelled it all again, and a cashier took me to a regular lane and it processed no problem. In the end it involved like 3 cashiers and the CSM to get it straightened out. That was one of my early couponing experiences, so I didn't know what to do, and honestly, I didn't have that many q's. I don't care if the regular line is from here to Mars, I'm better off. It took over a half hour to check out that day. Fortunately, the cashiers at the self-check are so busy making sure people aren't shop-lifting that they're usually pretty good about noticing a problem.

Yeah, I've had those issues before - employees don't respond, the Uscans crashing and my favourite, at night they have one cashier on with a lane open and they're also responsible for the Uscans, brilliant. I can spent more time in line than grabbing groceries some times. I agree, they don't deserve the business at all!

I'm right there with you. I have a store that I go to and usually have great results. However with that being said, I had a HORRIBLE experience Saturday with the Campbell's sale. She was hateful from the get-go. Besides scrutinzing my coupons that were not even beeping, she told me they were not allowed to accept any mealbox that didn't scan. Uh Ok ..so try hand scanner, key it in...nope. Finally after I protested, she entered and open coupon for $1.00 "this time". On my second transaction she refused to use the mealbox with the manufacturer coupon. She said I had to buy the total of both items. She wouldn't budge. So I asked her if she would like to see the Meijer COupn Policy because thanks to an Afullcup.com suggestion, I had printed one out a couple weeks ago. Then she said no, she knew it was allowed but I really should have to buy the amount of both together. Huh? On my third and final transaction, she goes, "OHHHHHH another one"with an attitude and I said "yep!" The first two were soup/bread but the last one was like $85.00 and she was slinging the stuff through like I was wasting her time. This was not the first time I have had rude treatment at this store and they never ever get my coupons right. I refuse to go to the Spfld. OH store anymore!(Huber is much better) I used the Meijer Customer Feedback and left a complaint on the survey with the cashier's first name. I don't know if it will help. |

My old turf ! I used to live at Walton & Dexter rd. I can understand your frustration a lot better now. Most of the workers are from the inner city of Pontiac and never seemed to have adapted to the outside world. I was actually up there today. Didn't stop anywhere though. I had to deliver a bunch of Dog & Cat food (THANK YOU PURINA & MEIJER'S !!) My car was 300 pounds lighter on the way back. Hope your next trip is a wholllllllllllllleeeeeeee lot better ! BEST steve |
